ABOUT ARS FUTURA

Ars Futura Ensemble, a newly formed (2012), Clevelandbased collective of classically trained musicians, is dedicated to commissioning and performing new music. Our mission is to nurture the evolution of modern music through collaboration with living composers. We strongly believe in early education and the importance of young students learning about the field of contemporary music and developing their creative side at an early age. The first season began with a successful debut performance at the Cleveland Museum of Art. Ars Futura commissioned two works by Joseph Hallman, a composer on the faculty of Drexel University and University of . The season also included a tour to Philadelphia and Baltimore where musicians performed and worked with students of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra’s El Sistema inspired program called ORCHkids. Ars Futura has been the ensembleinresidence for the Cleveland Institute of Music’s Young Composer’s summer program (2013/2014). Ars Futura has performed at Kutztown University, Wooster Chamber Music Series and for the Cleveland Public Library Music@Main series. Ars Futura is deeply committed to outreach programs for young students, having worked with an inspiring Clevelandbased organization – Joyful Noise Neighborhood Music School, where economically disadvantaged children receive free music lessons. Ars Futura musicians have worked closely with wellknown composers Keith Fitch, , Joan Tower, Chen Yi, Victoria Bond, Paul Dresher, Claude Baker, Melinda Wagner and David Rakowski.
