Agland Grain is listed at $535,000 for the 11 acres near the railroad tracks west of the intersection of Clark Avenue and Spring Street. The property includes multiple buildings, which also house at least two other local businesses: Lin’s Lock and Key, and Gerber Agri Systems. Last year the owner of Agland Grain voluntarily sur- rendered the licenses required to sell and buy grain in the state of Indiana. It is a sister company to Salamonie Mills, properties of which were sold at auction last year. Bank documents in a mortgage foreclosure case filed last year in Huntington County allege the companies’ owner defaulted on more than $8 million in loans. Since then, hundreds of farmers in the area have been finan- cially impacted by the companies’ failures. Their losses are in the millions. The real estate posting states the property at 1136 Clark Ave. has the capacity of 420,000 bushels of ver- tical storage and 200,000 bushels of flat storage. It is zoned for (I-1) light industrial and (B-2) service busi- ness. Annual taxes are listed at $13,218. An information flyer for the property notes it features an 850-foot dedicated rail spur “linked to major Norfolk & Southern rail line” to the west. The grain elevator building is 4,550 square feet with three private offices, a retail area, and a restroom and kitchen. The additional buildings are 880 square feet, 3,200 square feet, 800 square feet, 1,800 square feet for stor- age shed, a 6,560 square-foot storage building, 6,240 square feet and 670 square feet.
