TIGERS NOTES:  THE TIGERS fell to the Twins tonight and are now 6‐2 on the road this season and 11‐3 against the AL Central…the Tigers snapped their three game win streak with the loss tonight…the Tigers lost their first game of the season when leading after six innings, falling to 10‐1 in those contests…Detroit will look to take the series tomorrow in the rubber game…they are 5‐1 in series finales this season.  ANIBAL SANCHEZ allowed three runs on nine hits and no walks while striking out six in 7.0 innings…Sanchez was issued his third loss of the season in his fifth start…he has tossed three quality starts this season…the 7.0 innings tonight were a season‐high…the nine hits allowed also tied a season‐high…in five career starts at Target Field he is now 0‐2, 3.30 ERA (30.0 IP, 11 ER).  YOENIS CESPEDES (1‐for‐3) has hit safely in 19 of his 20 career games against the Twins, hitting .378 (31‐for‐82) with eight doubles, two triples, 25 RBI and 15 runs scored in those 20…his .378 average against the Twins is his highest against any team with at least 15 PA…coming into today his .709 slugging percentage vs. Minnesota was the second highest among AL hitters…he has hit safely in 16 of his 21 games played this season...with a double in the fourth inning he now has three extra‐base hits in his last two games after not having an XBH since April 21 vs. NYY.  ANTHONY GOSE (1‐for‐4) is hitting .314 (16‐for‐51) with three doubles, a triple, a home run and six RBI in 14 games as leadoff hitter this season…after going 0‐for‐2 in the nine spot last night, he was moved to leadoff and collected a hit in his third straight game as the leadoff hitter.

TWINS NOTES:  THE TWINS snapped their five‐game losing streak to the Tigers with a win tonight…the Twins are now 5‐3 at Target Field this season and 4‐7 against right‐handed starting …the Twins are also 2‐3 in one‐run games this season…Minnesota will look to win their fourth series of the season in tomorrow’s rubber game (3‐3 in series play)…Minnesota is 4‐2 in series finales this season and 3‐1 in rubber games.  MIKE PELFREY allowed two runs, one earned, on three hits and two walks while striking out seven in 7.0 innings…it was his second straight outing to toss 7.0 innings and allow one run or less…the seven are a season high and the most since he also struckout seven on September 6, 2013 vs. Toronto…the three hits tied his season‐low, also on April 17 vs. Cleveland (5.0 IP)…Pelfrey has an ERA of 2.25 (24.0 IP, 5 ER), the lowest ERA in his first four starts of a season since posting a 0.72 ERA (25.0 IP, 2 ER) and 4‐0 record in his first four starts of 2010.  KURT SUZUKI (2‐for‐2) collected a hit in his fourth straight game, a season‐high streak…he is hitting .300 (6‐for‐20) in seven home games, with both of his home runs and six RBI…Suzuki also has a hit in seven straight games against the Tigers at Target Field, batting .417 (10‐for‐24) with three doubles and eight RBI…with a single in the seventh inning, Suzuki drove in Escobar from second for his first game winning RBI of 2015.  EDUARDO ESCOBAR (1‐for‐4) drove in the Twins second run of the game, tying it in the seventh inning…he later came around to score the go‐ ahead run on a Suzuki single to give the Twins a 3‐1 lead.  DANNY SANTANA (3‐for‐4) drove in a run while collecting his sixth multi‐hit game of the season…he has back‐to‐back multi‐hit games and three multi‐hit games in his last five…since April 20 at KC he is hitting .357 (10‐for‐28) with two doubles and two RBI…the three hits tonight marked his 12th career game with three‐plus hits.  OSWALDO ARCIA (2‐for‐3) collected his first multi‐hit game of the season…he has a hit in three straight games, reaching base five times in those three…Arcia has three multi‐hit games in his last six games against the Tigers…he also has at least one hit in four of his last five games at Target Field.
