 We are strongly encouraging all vendors to “drop & go”. Stock can be sold on “owner’s approval” please ensure your contact details are on the entry form.  If in extreme cases (chiefly breeding stock) vendors feel strongly about staying to see their stock sold, only one person from a business may stay and they must leave as soon as their stock has been sold.  Everybody must enter via the main entrance and ensure they are wearing face coverings and have sanitised their hands.  We ask all people on site to adhere to strict social distancing measures reverting back to the 2m rule with a face covering.  No social visits can be permitted. Active buyers and sellers only, with just one representative per business allowed. No children allowed.

Prime Cattle to 230ppk and £1427 Barren Cows to 166ppk and £1414

A tremendous trade for all types of cattle here at Exeter on Monday amid fierce bidding which saw two thirds of the finished cattle sell in excess of 205ppk and all cull cows averaging 133ppk. Prime cattle topped at an incredible 230ppk given for a very smart 510kg British Blue heifer from Phillip Dennis and family of which was closely followed by an outstanding 620kg Bazadaise heifer from Bottor Rock Farms of which at 229ppk realised a mighty £1416. More medium weight heifers saw the next best from Bottor Rock Farms, a 514kg Bazadaise reach 226ppk with a nicely fleshed Limousin at 558kg levelling out at 224ppk and £1247 for Rosy Fishleigh of Sourton Cross and a 560kg Blonde drew 215ppk and £1201 for John Edwards of , Barnstaple. Heavyweight steers topped 219ppk (£1357) for Aberdeen Angus from Michael Tooze of Broadsands whilst highest total price was £1427 (678kg x 211ppk) given for a grand Simmental from Roger Adams of Cullompton who also saw British Blue bullocks to 209ppk and £1226. A well-muscled 648kg British Blue from Phillip Dennis and family topped the barren cow section at a heady 166ppk with an Aberdeen Angus off the same farm next in line at 161ppk and a well turned out 756kg Limousin cow from Andrew Johns of Newton Abbot reached 160ppk and £1205. 760kg South bred cows fetched 155ppk for both Robert Merchant of Moretonhampstead (£1174) and Wilf Walter of (£1180) with a couple of colossal South Devon’s from Becky Dennis of saw one at 1052kg make 135ppk and a market topping £1414 followed by another at 1004kg rising to 129ppk and £1290. British Blue cows sold to 154ppk and £1068 for Andrew Johns again with Blondes to 135ppk for Bottor Rock Farms. Dairy bred barreners saw a top of 126ppk for a 600kg Holstein from Steve Loud of Farway which realised £755.

The sheep trade continues on its strengthening 691vein PRIMEwith 876 LAMBS prime hoggs selling to another fiery trade for all hoggs forward, weighing from 28 to 70 kilos and averaging 245ppk or £111.44! 14 lots and no less than 69 hoggs sold in excess of £125 to a top of £135 for a single Charollais from Anthony Elsworthy of Witheridge whilst both Ken Chapple of Oakford and Michael & Tom Hartnell of sold pens of heavy hoggs at £130.
