Town Centre 2 Nantwich War Memorial - Commemorating the fallen of WW1 and WW2. Plan 3 The Crown Hotel - Rebuilt in 1583 after the great fire. This Grade II listed building has an exquisite gallery window on the third floor, stunning Georgian ballroom and original wattle and daub construction. 4 46 High Street - Now a book shop this beautiful Tudor house was built in 1584. 5 13 Queen’s Aid House - Built by Thomas Cleese after the great fire in 1584. An inscription can be viewed thanking Queen Elizabeth for her generous donation towards the towns reconstruction. 12 6 The Pillory - In the middle ages wrongdoers were imprisoned here for the whole town to see. Sometimes afterwards they were transported and ducked into the town’s cess pit. 7 Nantwich Player’s Theatre - Originally the Quakers meeting 15 Canal Basin house built in the 16th century. This quaint theatre is locally run, 14 hosting six plays a year and a youth production. 8 Nantwich Museum - Discover all about Nantwich. With regular 3 changing special exhibitions, there is always something new to see. 2 9 Millennium Clock - Designed by Paul Beckett to celebrate the 1 4 new millennium. 5 10 Sweetbriar Hall - Built in the late 15th century for the Wilbraham family, this is one of the few buildings to escape the great 10 fire of 1583. 9 11 Churche’s Mansion & Adam Antiques - Built in 1577 by Thomas 6 8 Cleese for Rychard & Margerye Churche. This is one of the oldest 11 buildings in Nantwich. Featured on ‘Most Haunted: Midsummer 7 Murders’ with Yvette Fielding in 2007. M6 12 Almshouses - The Crewe Almshouse was built in 1767. The Wright Almshouses seen through a beautiful archway were originally built in 1638 on London Road and moved here in 1974 stone by stone. 13 Nantwich Baths & Outdoor Brine Pool - Our unique outdoor pool is possibly the last in the country. With aqua fit and family fun sessions there is something for everyone. 14 The Cheshire Cat - Originally three cottages, then converted into The Widows’ Almshouse in 1676 by Roger Wilbraham. Today a charming bar, restaurant and hotel. Outside the sandstone steps were Nantwich Lake KEY used to dismount horses.
