  • Drumahoe Community Association in Partnership with YMCA Down By
Drumahoe Community Association in partnership with YMCA Down by the Faughanside project Introduction Drumahoe Community Association in partnership with YMCA has successfully secured funding for community consultation through a Stage 1 application from the Building Peace through the Arts Programme – Re-Imaging Communities. This project is part- financed by the European Union’s Programme for Peace and Reconciliation (PEACE III) managed by the Special EU Programmes Body; the Arts Council of Northern Ireland; and the International Fund for Ireland. Appointment of artist/facilitator Drumahoe Community Association in partnership with YMCA, wish to recruit an experienced artist/facilitator with the necessary skills, qualifications and experience to facilitate creative peace-building consultation workshops. We also welcome applications from teams of artists and peace-building facilitators. Previous engagement with a variety of community organisations and local residents is desirable. A local steering group with key stakeholders including a representative from the Arts Council of Northern Ireland has been set up to manage the process. Background information Drumahoe is a large village on the outskirts of Londonderry. The busy A6 road from Londonderry to Belfast passes through the village. In recent years the village has been in some way absorbed into the Waterside neighbourhood. Drumahoe has seen considerable growth in recent years. With currently more than 700 dwellings in the centre of the village and with another 7-800 planned, the village is in some danger of losing its village status. Residents of Drumahoe however believe that Drumahoe has an identity of its own, with a mixture of the urban and the rural giving the place a special feeling.

Role and Responsibilities of an ‘Action Lead’ Context: In order to progress achievement of the shared outcomes identified in the Strategic Growth Plan (Community Plan) Outcome Delivery Plans will be agreed and taken forward by the community planning partners. The Outcome Delivery Plans will be live and evolving documents, subject to ongoing review, and will be performance through the identification and monitoring of performance level measures. In order to assist in management of these plans, it has been agreed to identify a partner organisation to undertake the role of ‘Action Lead’ for each individual action. Role of Action Lead: An ‘Action Lead’ does not and, indeed, could not have sole responsibility for achievement of an action. Community planning actions, by their nature, will depend on the active contribution of a number of partners to ensure their successful delivery. An Action Lead will, however, have a significant interest in ensuring the success of the related community planning action which is highly likely to be closely linked to the remit of their own organisation. The nature of the role will, primarily, relate to co-ordinating and reporting. Key Responsibilities: 1. Co-ordinate the contributions of identified partners to define and agree the performance accountability scorecard for each action, including agreeing performance measures and the involvement of each identified partner towards the action 2. Report to the Community Planning Partnership on progress using the identified performance measures 3. Where appropriate, ensure obligations in relation to statutory processes are undertaken, e.g., rural proofing. 4. Act as key point of contact for the Community Planning Partnership in relation to that action.
