Definition of Footpath and Road Margin
Meanings of “footpath” and “road margin” in Land Transport (Road User) Rule 2004 The RURs provide the following definitions 1.6 Interpretation: footpath means a path or way principally designed for, and used by, pedestrians; and includes a footbridge road margin includes any uncultivated margin of a road adjacent to but not forming part of either the roadway or the footpath (if any) The definition of “footpath” encompasses the road space that is principally designed for and used by pedestrians. There is nothing in any of the rules that reference footpath that limits this to paved areas of the pedestrian space. The definition of “road margin” excludes any part of the footpath. The term is only used in RUR 6.2, 11.14 and 11.15. Both 11.14 and 11.15 refer to riders of horses. 11.14 requires horse riders to “when a reasonably adequate road margin is available, keep the animal on the road margin as far as practicable”, but prohibits riding “along a footpath, or on any lawn, garden, or other cultivation adjacent to or forming part of a road”. These words suggest that road margins do not exist on all roads. It appears that the term “road margin” only refers to areas set aside and formed for parking or stopping off the roadway References to “footpath” and “road margin” in other legislation Both terms appear with the same definitions in related legislation: the Land Transport (Offences and Penalties) Regulations 1999 (in a schedule of penalties for breaching rules in the RUR, and the Traffic Regulations 1976 (largely revoked and Replaced by the RUR). -

INDIAN RAILWAYS SCHEDULE OF DIMENSIONS 1676mm Gauge (BG) REVISED, 2004 SCHEDULE OF DIMENSIONS-1676mm, GAUGE SHEDULE OF DIMENSIONS-1676MM GAUGE Schedule of Dimensions for Indian Railways, 1676mm Gauge Dear Sir/Dear Sirs, With their circular letter No. 735-W. of 1922, the Railway Board issued a Schedule of Maximum, Minimum and Recommended Dimensions to be observed on all 1676mm gauge Railways in India. In that Schedule, certain dimensions of the previous schedule of the year 1913 were modified with the object of permitting the use of enlarged rolling stock. 2. The Schedule of Dimensions of 1922 contained two distinct sections, namely, a schedule of "Maximum and Minimum Dimensions" which was considered to enable the proposed larger vehicles to run with about the same degree of safety as that which was previously obtained on the older Railways with existing stock, and a schedule of "Recommended Dimensions" intended to provide approximately the same clearances from fixed structures for the future larger vehicles as the 1913 schedule gave for existing vehicles. 3. In their circular letter No. 232-Tech.dated the 8th February, 1926, the Railway Board gave instructions that the Recommended Dimensions given in the 1922 Schedule were to be observed on important Railways in all new works and alterations to existing works. These orders were modified in letter No. 232-Tech. of the 26th April, 1926, which allowed a relaxation in the case of certain recommended dimensions, the adoption of which would involve heavy expenditure in remodeling works. 4. In 1929, it was found desirable further to amend the Schedule of 1922 in order to introduce certain improve- ments in the light of experience gained since it was issued, and to provide the clearances required by electric traction equipment on lines which were likely to be electrified in the future. -

Aerial ropeway systems have been operated in touristic spots e.g., over lakes, rivers, and hilly lands in several countries. Passengers can enjoy a view from the above and experience a stress-free and reliable trip. Furthermore, those systems can be exploited as a public transportation in urbanized and populated regions. The objective of this article is to investigate the viability of implementing a gondola line flying over Doha Bay in Qatar as a tourist attraction from the marketing, economic, and environmental point of view. In this study, the associated costs (capital, maintenance, and operating) of implementing a monocable detachable gondola technology(MDG) are estimatedDraft using international best practices in the world. The economic analysis outcome demonstrates that the revenues generated from the fares could counterweigh the required capital investment as well as operating and maintenance costs and hence the proposed gondola could be economically attractive for investors. -
