Questioning and explaining

Testing and questioning are always known to be effective methods due to its interactive nature.

Sometimes the experiences can also be shared as a part of knowledge that would work as a source of inspiration for the students.

Modeling

Modeling is a type of visual aid for teaching as well as learning. Preparing the Geological time scales, modeling of dinosaurs, crystallographic models help the students for better learning.

Assignments were given to both M.Sc. and M.Phil. students, valued and discussed individually

Demonstration

With the help of demonstrative teaching, students get an opportunity to explore the various aspects and understand the theory easily. Demonstration is a step by step explanation along with their reasons and significance for the better understanding of the students.

Collaboration

By creating teamwork, a contemporary form of collaboration. The students are taught to work in a group that makes the instructing easier for teaching. This method of teaching promotes a sense of mutual responsibility among the students.

Audio visual Teaching

Making presentation of the particular subject by documentary film, by LCD power point presentation, using computer, internet are also introduced in my teaching. Apart from this, students are exposed to educational trips, conferences, workshops, seminars. These new methods have increased the zeal and pace of learning and understanding much better than the book reading in geology.

Under the CBCS Programme, tests were conducted periodically and the answer papers were valued with more care and mistakes committed by the students were explained. If necessary, special coaching is given after class hours to improve their knowledge in the particular field. Assignments were given and were assessed and improvements suggested. The students are trained to undertake literature survey in library.

Learning outcomes are monitored.

Every month the departmental committee scrutinized all the research work carried through assessment.

Regularly conducting the examination other than the sessional tests. The dissertations submitted by M.Sc. and M.Phil. Students were evaluated

Curriculum is being updated periodically in accordance with the latest developments in the field. Syllabuses from various universities have also been taken into account while framing the same.

The teaching methods include lectures followed by discussions, assignments, tests, seminars, quiz and counseling.

Laboratory experiments were designed in accordance with the scientific developments published in standard text books, manuals and journals.

The evaluation methods include assignments, tests, seminars, quiz and group discussions.

Resource materials were prepared periodically with the aid of scientific publications, manuals and internet.

Special coaching classes were conducted to weak students after class hours.

Multiple choice questions in all related topics in Geology were collected and supplied to students for preparing UGC, CSIR, SLET, GRE and TOEFL examinations. In addition, all possible steps have been taken to improve the standard of the teaching as well as students.

Conducting seminars for students:

Assignments and seminars are conducted for all students.

External Experts monitor the works done by the students once in a month.
