Election of a nominee by the Senate to the Committee for recommending a panel of three names to the Chancellor for appointment of the Vice-Chancellor

It is hereby notified that, according to Statute 5 of Chapter V of the Laws of the University, Volume-I Calendar of the University, an election will be held for nominating a person by the Senate by the University to serve on the Committee of three, who are to suggest a panel of three names to the Chancellor for appointment of the Vice- Chancellor. The election will be held in accordance with the Statutes of Chapter V and the rules relating to the elections to the authorities of the University. Each member of the Senate shall have a right to nominate not more than one person who is not a member of any of the authorities of the University to the Committee. Every nomination shall be in writing signed by the proposer who shall be a member of the Senate and Seconded in writing by another member of the Senate called the seconder in the form prescribed. The form prescribed may be obtained from the Registrar on a written requisition signed by any member of the Senate. No nomination shall be valid unless it contains the signature of both the proposer and seconder and the nomination shall also be signed by the person proposed expressing his consent to be nominated. Every nomination must be presented before the Registrar either by the proposer or the seconder or the person proposed before 3.00 p.m. on Thursday the 10th November, 2016. The scrutiny of nomination will take place at 3.15 p.m. on Thursday the 10th November, 2016 at the Office of the Registrar, Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai - 625 021. The proposer or the seconder or the proposed nominee can be present at the time of the scrutiny. The following is the programme for Election of a nominee by the SENATE to the Committee for recommending a panel of three names to the Chancellor for Appointment of the Vice-Chancellor.

1. Issue of notification in the Wednesday, the 26th October 2016 Gazette calling for nomination

2. Last date and hour for filling nominations Thursday, the 10th November 2016 03.00 p.m.

3. Scrutiny of Nominations Thursday, the 10th November 2016 03.15 p.m.

4. Publication of list of valid nominations Thursday, the 10th November 2016 to the candidates validly nominated.

5. Last day and hour by which the candidate Friday, the 18th November 2016 03.00 p.m. may withdraw their candidature by notice in writing

6. Despatch of final list of candidates validly Friday, the 18th November 2016 nominated if there is to be an election

7. Date and hour of poll Wednesday, the 30th November 2016 Time: 10.30 a.m. to 01.30 p.m.

If the number of persons validly nominated and who have not withdrawn is more than one, an election will be held at the meeting of the Senate on 30-11-2016 from 10.30 a.m. to 01.30 p.m. at Dr. Mu. Va. Arangu, Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai-625 021.
