Among its wide range of amenities are a fitness center and spa, swimming pool, and several specialty restaurants: Spices features authentic Southeast Asian cuisine; The Lobby offers international cuisine, popular Filipino light snacks, and drinks , with daily Afternoon Tea service from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm, and live musical entertainment throughout the day; The Bar serves a selection of world-class cocktails; and The Pool Snack Bar chefs recommend choosing from a menu of tapas, sandwiches, and poke bowls. Aside from extensive dining facilities, the hotel also has 12 function rooms including the 500-person capacity Rigodon Ballroom. All of which are suitable for business or social gatherings. Comprised of 351 rooms, The Peninsula Manila has a total of 45 well-appointed suites. The Gallery Club offers express check-in and check-out service and has a spacious lounge with dedicated Club Concierge service. It offers complimentary Afternoon Tea as well as evening cocktails and has two boardrooms which can be used free of charge for The Gallery Club guests on a first-come, first-serve basis. Located at the hotel’s Lower Lobby Shopping Arcade are a salon for men and women, jewelry stores, and The Peninsula Boutique that serves as the hotel’s delicatessen and bake shop, and offers takeout and delivery service. Sleeveless shirts and singlets for men, extremely short shorts, bathrobes, work-out clothes, bedroom slippers, and swimwear are not. Smart casual attire as well as T-shirts and Bermuda shorts are encouraged when at The Gallery Club. During evening cocktails, smart casual attire still applies as well as well-cut jeans, T-shirts, and well-maintained sport shoes. Very short shorts, sandals, flip-flops, bedroom slippers, bathrobes, work-out clothes, and swimwear are not appropriate. G U E S T S E R V I C E S Bedroom slippers are for in-room use but are welcome in The Peninsula Fitness Center and Spa and The Pool. DRY CLEANING AND LAUNDRY For your dry cleaning, laundry, and pressing requirements, kindly fill up and sign the Laundry Form found in your closet and press the “Valet Call” button on your bedside panel or hotel phone to have the items picked up for service. A same-day service is available for items collected before the 11:00 am cut-off period, while clothing items collected after the cut-off period will be returned the following day. Dry cleaning and laundry service is available from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm daily. DUTY MANAGER A Duty Manager is on call 24 hours a day. ELECTRICITY The hotel operates on a 220 voltage (60 cycles) power. Should you require a transformer, your room attendant will be happy to provide you with one. EMERGENCY • Press “4” on your hotel phone for our emergency hotline in an event of an emergency. • In the event of an evacuation, proceed to the nearest emergency “EXIT” immediately. • In the event of fire or earthquakes, do not use the lifts, use the staircase located on either end of the corridor that has an illuminated “EXIT” sign. • Proceed and assemble at the hotel’s designated evacuation area at the Ayala Triangle Gardens located across the Escolta Makati Avenue entrance. • Remain calm and do not panic. G U E S T S E R V I C E S EMERGENCY/ EARTHQUAKE In case of an earthquake, please remain calm and stay away from tall furniture, windows, glass, and any ceiling-mounted light fixtures or equipment. Do not use the elevator. Always take your room key and emergency flashlight located in your wardrobe. While the earthquake is happening, DUCK under the room’s work table and COVER your head while keeping all the vital parts of your body under the table. HOLD until the shaking ends and proceed to the emergency “EXIT” and then continue to the designated evacuation area of the hotel at the Ayala Triangle Gardens located across the Escolta Makati Avenue entrance. EMERGENCY/ FIRE Should you notice a fire and if it safe to do so, dial “4” using the hotel phone for the emergency hotline and give details of its location and size. Do not use the elevators for evacuation. Follow the “FIRE EXIT” signs marked on the map mounted at the back of your main entry door. If fire breaks out, always go to the floor(s) below. If it is necessary to evacuate, and the corridor is full of smoke, place a wet piece of cloth over your nose and mouth then crawl to the nearest fire exit located at either end of the corridor. Proceed to the hotel’s designated evacuation area at the Ayala Triangle Gardens located across the Escolta Makati Avenue entrance. FOOD TAKE-OUT & DELIVERY Take-out and delivery from The Peninsula Boutique is available. For assistance, please the “Operator” button on your hotel phone. Inefficient performance means wastes in the use of hotel inputs that is detrimental in maintaining low operating expenses to sustain survival in the hotel industry. This paper aims to determine the sources of efficiency and sustainability performance of 10 De Luxe Class Hotels in Metro Manila, Philippines accredited by the Department of Tourism from 2005- 2014. The efficiency and productivity of the sample were assessed using slack-based and Malmquist productivity index models of the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA). The results indicated that an average deluxe hotel was productive and cost efficient. However, technology was obsolete and could cause the downtrend in revenue or tourist visit. It also hinted decreasing returns to scale. Slacks revealed that an average deluxe hotel should reduce its inputs (operating expenses, capital, employees and rooms) wastages to catch up with Pan Pacific Hotel Manila. Regression analysis proved that the De Luxe class hotels are operating at decreasing return to scale. It also reveals that older hotels were not efficient than younger (newly established) hotels.
