Venue & Visitor Information MUSCLECONTEST PHILIPPINES 2019 PHILIPPINES Metro Manila Manila is the capital of the Philippines and the nation's center of education, business, and transportation. Metro Manila is the most populous metropolitan region composing the city of Manila and surrounding cities like Makati, Mandaluyong, Muntinlupa, Parañaque, Pasay, Pasig, Quezon City and Taguig. Terminal 1 is used for most international flights such as Japan Airlines, Jetstar, China Southern, Asiana, EVA Air, Thai Airways, Korean Air, Saudia, Scoot, Alitalia, Kuwait Airways, Air China, Gulf Air, Hong Kong Airlines, Oman Air, Vietnam Airlines, etc. Terminal 2 is used by Philippine Airlines, ANA, Etihad, Turkish Airways, Air Macau, Bangkok Airways, etc. Terminal 3 is used by domestic carriers like Cebu Pacific and several international airlines like Cathay Pacific, Cathay Dragon, Singapore Airlines, Air Canada, Emirates, Qatar, United Airlines, Air France, Delta Airlines, KLM, Qantas, etc. Terminal 4 is used by budget carriers AirAsia and Air Swift. Getting Around While there are taxis outside NAIA Terminals’ arrival areas heading downtown it’s best to check if your hotel has a shuttle service before considering transport options. Airport metered taxis are colored yellow, and have the right to stop and pick up passengers and line up the porte cochere area as you step out of the arrival hall. Each departing taxi is registered by a dispatcher. Despite this, complaints have been reported (accelerated meters, charging full days' mileage, etc). Do not let the yellow taxi driver retain both taxi slips. White taxis are warned as "not officially sanctioned" by NAIA, but often times are much cheaper. Base fare start at ₱40. If you want to be walking distance to the venue then there are AirBnB options. McKinley Hills is 3 kilometers or 1.8 miles away by car. Bonifacio Global City is 5 kilometers or 3 miles away by vehicle. Makati City is 6 kilometers or 4 miles away. While Resorts World is 10 kilometers or 6 miles away. All 4 have great dining and entertainment options. Newport is next to the airport and has a casino but the majority are in Entertainment City which is 15 kilometers or 9 miles away (where Okada, Solaire, City of Dreams are located). Acacia Estates (walk to venue) only has AirBnB options. You can also go to Agoda Homes, hotels.com or Tripadvisor for choices of apartments for short stay rent. McKinley Hills neighborhood is also a good choice since dining and entertainment options are available and its a short cab drive away in an area not susceptible to unpredictable traffic jams as the other areas. Again short stay studios for rent are aplenty in the aforementioned room booking sites. The robustness of a road network against such attack is crucial to be studied because it may cripple its connectivity by simply shutting down these hubs. We show the important hubs in a road network based on network structure and propose a model for robustness analysis. By identifying important hubs in a road network, possible preparation schemes may be done earlier to mitigate random terrorist attacks, including defense reinforcement and transportation security. A case study of the Metro Manila road network is also presented. Makati City, National Capital Region (Metro-Manila), Philippines Population: 510,383 Type of Hazard(s): Typhoons, Earthquakes, Floods For the past years, Makati is among the cities in NCR affected by several hydrometeorological disasters such as Typhoon Milenyo (Xangsane) in 2006, Typhoon Egay (Sepat) in 2007, Typhoon Ondoy (Ketsana) in 2009, and Typhoon Pepeng (Parma) also in 2009. There are two physical characteristics of the City that pose danger to its present and future development. A part of the Valley Fault System, a potential generator of a large magnitude of earthquake in NCR is located at the eastern part of Makati. Six (6) barangays (communities) were identified as high risk areas. Second, the western portion of the City is composed of former tidal flats where seven (7) barangays are flood-prone. Disaster Risk Reduction activities Essential 1: Put in place Organisation and coordination The City Government established and institutionalised the Makati City Disaster Coordinating Council (MCDCC) as a specialised task group for the coordination of disaster reduction policies and strategies between the national, regional levels and the city level. MCDCC also serves as a policy decision-making body for DRR-related activities. Essential 2: Assign a budget for DRR As mandated by the Local Government Code of 1991 (RA 7160) the City Government allots 5% of its total annual fund for calamity. From 2010 onwards, the City Government optimises the said fund to be used for disaster preparedness and risk reduction in addition to disaster response and post recovery initiatives.
