Manila is the capital of the Philippines and the nation's center of education, business, and transportation. is the most metropolitan region composing the city of Manila and surrounding cities like , , , Parañaque, , , City and .

The event venue, The Tent at Acacia Estates, is in Taguig right after the airports. Hence, exploring any of the more than 7,000 islands of the Philippines via domestic air travel will be convenient. If you have a few nights to spare you may go to (El Nido, Coron, San Vicente, Port Barton are some of the most visited), , , Siargao (for surfing), etc. For day trips, you can go consider Island, (for diving and snorkeling) to see , Hidden Valley Springs in or in . Getting In

The most reasonable and practical way to reach Manila is by air. Ninoy Aquino (NAIA), is the Philippines’ primary international airport with 4 terminals — Terminals 1, 2, 3, 4. Always check the Terminal of your as some use more than one terminal. In any case, know that a free shuttle bus runs every 15 minutes to connect all 4 terminals 24 hours daily.

Terminal 1 is used for most international flights such as Airlines, Jetstar, Southern, Asiana, EVA Air, Thai Airways, Korean Air, , Scoot, Alitalia, Airways, Air China, , Airlines, Air, Airlines, etc.

Terminal 2 is used by , ANA, Etihad, Turkish Airways, Air , Airways, etc.

Terminal 3 is used by domestic carriers like Pacific and several international airlines like Cathay Pacific, , Airlines, Air , Emirates, , United Airlines, Air , Delta Airlines, KLM, Qantas, etc.

Terminal 4 is used by budget carriers AirAsia and Air Swift. Getting Around

While there are taxis outside NAIA Terminals’ arrival areas heading downtown it’s best to check if your hotel has a shuttle service before considering transport options.

Airport metered taxis are colored yellow, and have the right to stop and pick up passengers and line up the porte cochere as you step out of the arrival hall. Each departing taxi is registered by a dispatcher. Despite this, complaints have been reported (accelerated meters, charging full days' mileage, etc). Do not let the yellow taxi driver retain both taxi slips.

White taxis are warned as "not officially sanctioned" by NAIA, but often times are much cheaper. Base fare start at ₱40. But they can only be spotted in the departure level, where they are dropping off departing passengers.

Athletes and visitors are encouraged to download Grab App (ride hailing platform/ booking service) for cars, taxi, carpool, and courier to help reach destinations in Manila. Fares using this APP can be paid via your registered credit card in the APP or by cash (Philippine Pesos).

Bonifacio is 5 kilometers or 3 miles away by vehicle. Makati City is 6 kilometers or 4 miles away. While is 10 kilometers or 6 miles away. All 4 have great dining and entertainment options. Newport is next to the airport and has a casino but the majority are in which is 15 kilometers or 9 miles away (where Okada, Solaire, City of Dreams are located).

Acacia Estates (walk to venue) only has AirBnB options. You can also go to Agoda Homes, hotels.com or Tripadvisor for choices of apartments for short stay rent. Dine

Filipino cuisine has developed from the different cultures that shaped its history. As such, it is a melange of Indian, Chinese, Malay, Spanish, European and American influences. Though its cuisine is not as renowned as many of its neighbours, such as that of and Vietnam, Filipino cooking is nonetheless distinct in that it is possibly the least spicy of all South East Asian cuisines. Don't make the mistake of thinking that Filipino food is bland, though. It is just that instead of spices, Filipino food depends more on garlic, onions and ginger to add flavor to dishes. Painstaking preparation and prolonged cooking time is also a characteristic of most Filipino dishes, and when done properly is often what brings out the flavor of the food as, opposed to a healthy dose of spices.

Kamayan, literally means “eating with hands”. Some who were born and raised in rural still eat with their hands, mostly at their homes during mealtimes. They would often say that Kamayan makes food taste better. Wash your hands clean before attempting this to avoid illnesses. Almost all Filipinos in the urban areas though use spoons, forks and knives. Eating with hands in public is not uncommon however if you're eating in a mid-range and splurge restaurant this may be considered rude.

To experience how the Filipinos eat in a budget way, Carenderias (food stalls) and Turo- turo (meaning Point-point, which actually means you point at the food you want to eat in the buffet table) are some of the options. Mains cost less than $1. Carenderias serve food cooked earlier and it may not always be the safest of options.

As with the rest of Southeast , rice is the staple food of the Philippines. Some areas in the prefer corn but elsewhere Filipinos would generally have rice for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Below are some recommended restaurants serving Filipino, Filipino Modern Cuisine, or Fusion Filipino and Asian cuisines:
