Jonathan Matthew Zay 2 Charbonneau played for the St. Jerome Panthers (QJAHL). He tallied 40 goals and 49 assists in just 42 games with Kyle Cook 1 the Panthers. Finally, head coach Rick Gotkin’s son, Brandon Gotkin, joins the team after playing four seasons with the Kyle Dutra 1 Cathedral Prep Ramblers in the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Hockey League. He had a career-high 29 points during his SHOTS junior season and registered 67 points and 149 penalty minutes in 72 career games. Under Gotkin’s direction, players have volunteered 2009-10 15-20-3 15-10-3 their time each year with the Edmund L. Thomas Adolescent Center, 2010-11 15-18-4 12-13-2 the Shriners Hospitals for Children, the annual college food drive and the Skating Club of Erie. The Lakers also perform at the annual Gliding Stars of Erie show - an organization that helps disabled kids learn how to skate. In 1995, the varsity hockey team won the Sister 2011-12 20-16-4 15-8-4 Rita Panciera Award given annually to the Mercyhurst College group that “best exemplifi es the values of mercy”. In March of 1998, the 2012-13 19-17-5 12-11-4 team was honored again, this time by the Erie Achievement Center for its work with the disabled. Meanwhile, during Gotkin’s stay at Mercyhurst, the team’s cumulative QPA has been consistently good with his players majoring in such fi elds as Criminal Justice, Account- 2013-14 21-13-7 17-4-6 ing, Pre-Dental, History, and Business Administration. Last season, defenseman Jones was named the conference’s student-athlete of the year while 17 of his players made the AHA All-Academic team.
