Page’s Horseshoe Bend Overlook Parking Lot to be Expanded By Todd The Horseshoe Bend Overlook near Page has gotten a Glasenapp for little too popular. Arizona Day Sun The parking lot off Highway 89 that serves the growing number of visitors to the breathtaking vista over the Colorado River has gotten so crowded that people are parking along the highway right-of-way, Mayor Bill Diak told Page City Council Wednesday night. City Manager Rick Olson agreed to enlarge the parking lot and have a “driving device” installed that would improve backing out. Large boulders currently prevent the lot from being expanded. The parking area is on Page land while the trail leading to the overlook is on National Park Service property. The overlook permits photographers and other sightseers to glimpse Horseshoe Bend from 1,000 feet above the river. The overlook is located about 5 miles downstream from Glen Canyon Dam.
