I sat down with Eric to learn more about his interests, workout routine to stay in great shape and life in general – after his photo shoot with renowned photographer David Vance at his studio in Miami. This sexy daddy reminds us that we can get and stay in shape if we eat properly and exercise, but look- ing as magnificent as Eric does take extra effort and dedication.

Rafa Carvajal: Where are you originally from and where do you live? Eric Turner: I'm originally from the mountains outside of Salt Lake City, UT, and I currently live in Houston, TX.

RC: Describe yourself in three words. ET: Quite easily amused.

RC: What do you do for work? ET: I've launched a men's underwear and ath- letic apparel line, Oryx. I also do some person- al training.

RC: What do you enjoy doing for fun? ET: I love the outdoors. It's ironic that I chose to live in Houston, since the climate is such that it's hard to get outside most of the year. However, I like to travel to places where I can. I also enjoy watching films in the cinema and spending time playing with my dogs.

RC: Who is your role model that inspires you most? Why? ET: My paternal grandfather inspired me the most. He was a hard worker who was able to accomplish a lot because of his work ethic and his resolve.

RC: Tell us about your workouts to stay in such great shape. ET: I split my days into body parts, and I only hit each body part once a week. The exception to that is arms twice and abs three times week- ly. My rule is 4-5 exercises per muscle group, and I hit them from multiple angles to develop and pump areas of that muscle on which I want to focus. I do fasted cardio weekday mornings.

RC: What is the most important tip you would give someone who wants to get in shape? ET: The most important thing you can do is eat right. Your body can look great if you have a horrible workout program and a perfect diet, but not if you have a perfect workout program and a horrible diet. And it's not an overnight process. I've been lifting weights for 20 years, so it's been a 20 year process to get where I am. And a 21 year process to get where I'll be next year. But the most critical thing you can do to help build the physique you want is to be consistent about it.

RC: What do you most enjoy about modeling for photography? ET: Traveling to new places and experiencing new things. I've been very fortunate to meet some really great people through my modeling. I've worked with some really great photogra- phers, and have walked away from many of the shoots with not just images, but great friend- ships.

RC: What has been your favorite location for a photo shoot? Why? ET: They've all been so different, so it's hard to compare them. I had a great time shooting a swimwear campaign during a Sunday after- noon on Castro Street in San Francisco. It was packed and there were two photographers, a videographer, the artistic director and a stylist – so it was a production. We were in the mid- dle of the Castro during a busy afternoon and it was so much fun interacting with people as they were walking around.

RC: Boxers or briefs? ET: Briefs, unless we're talking bedtime, then it's commando.

RC: What are your favorite foods? ET: I couldn't function without Tex Mex, it is my go-to cheat meal. I don't eat much fish because I don't like the taste of pre-prepared and reheated fish, but I will never pass up an opportunity to eat sushi or baked goods. I love me some baked goods. Specifically oatmeal choco- late chip cookies, brownies and blondies.

RC: What is your favorite hobby? ET: I would say weightlifting because I do consider it a hobby. But beyond that, playing the piano. I've played the piano since I was 3-years-old, and it's always relax- ing for me to sit down and play around for a couple of hours.

RC: What is your favorite place in the world? Why? ET: Cape Town, South Africa. It's the most beautiful, magical and exotic city on the planet.

RC: How is it working on a photo shoot with David Vance? ET: David is a lot of fun. It can be difficult to walk into a photographer's studio and taking your clothes off imme- diately, while feeling and looking natural and comfort- able. When I first got to his studio, we probably spent 45 minutes styling my hair and just chatting, which really warmed me up to him once I had to strip my clothes off for the shoot. We then had a really great time joking with each other while we shot. He's really good at putting you at ease during the shoot, or at least he was with me.

RC: What is your current struggle? ET: I love food. Eating the right foods is easy for me. Keeping the diet "clean," that's sometimes a challenge for me. As the holidays approach, all of the sweets are going to start calling my name.

RC: Is there anything else you would like to share with Wire Magazine readers? ET: Toilet paper rolls should roll over, not under. Take notes.
