Denis Smoldarev Vs. Maro Perak Added to M-1 Challenge 55 Card Feb 21 in Georgia Denis Smoldarev vs. Maro Perak added to M-1 Challenge 55 card Feb 21 in Georgia ST. PETERSBURG, Russia (Jan. 15, 2015) – A potentially explosive heavyweight match between past M-1 Challenge title challenger Denis Smoldarev and veteran Maro “Man Machine” Perak has been added to M-1 Global’s 2015 season-opening event, February 21, at M-1 Challenge 55: Guram Gugenishvili Memorial Show in Tbilisi, Georgia. Former M-1 Challenge heavyweight champion Kenny “Deuce” Garner (14-8-0, 7 KO/TKO) versus Chechen prospect Aslambek “Titan” Musaev (5-1-0, 1 KO/TKO, 2 SUB) was announced earlier this week. M-1 Challenge 55, honoring the memory of the first M-1 Challenge heavyweight champion Guram Gugenishvili, will be streamed live in high definition on www.M1Global.TV. Viewers will be able to watch the preliminary fights and main card by logging on to register at www.M1Global.TV. Fans may watch all of the action on their computers, as well as on Andriod and Apple smart phones and tablets. The 24-year-old Smoldarev (9-1-0, 3 KO/TKO, 4 SUB) and dangerous Perak (23-4-1, 12 KO/TKO, 7 SUB), ironically, are both coming off losses to reigning M-1 Challenge heavyweight champion Marcin “Tybur” Tybura (12-0-0, 3 KO/TKO, 7 SUB). Smoldarev, fighting out of Estonia, was choked into a submission by Tybura in the opening round of their title fight last November at M-1 Challenge 53: Battle in the Celestial Empire in Beijing, China. Despite getting in a few early shots on Tybura, Smoldarev allowed the defending champion to fight on the ground, resulting in a rear naked choke that halted the action. The invaluable experience he gained in his last fight, though, should enable Smoldarev to grow as an overall MMA fighter, something he desperately will need fighting a battle-tested opponent such as Perak. Perak, 32, is the lone fighter in M-1 Challenge competition to extend Tybura past the first round. The tough Croatian was stopped by Tybura’s punches in the third round of their fight this past April at M-1 Challenge 47: Battle in the Heart of the Continent in Orenburg, Russia. Perak also has revenge on his mind. Last year, Smoldarev defeated one of Perak’s students, Ante Delija, by second-round submission. The most impressive victory on the aggressive fighting Perak’s record, perhaps, is his stoppage of Bob Sapp in 2011. All fights and fighters are subject to change. Additional fights will soon be announced. Fight Network will air M-1 Challenge 55 live on Cablevision’s Optimum TV, Grande Communications, Shentel Cable and Armstrong Cable in the U.S., as well as nationwide in Canada, on Roku devices across North America, and globally in more than 30 countries throughout Europe, Africa and the Middle East. 25 Pro Fighters, Managers, and Coaches Reveal Their Best Tips to Land a Sponsorship by Solmadrid Vazquez Follow me on Twitter here. Sponsorships can make or break you. The problem is, the process of landing a sponsorship is counter-intuitive. Being a great fighter is NOT enough. I’m sure you’ve seen fighters who land sponsors left and right. What’s their secret? How come they can get 27 sponsors in one day and you can’t even get one freakin’ rep to look at you? What THE hell is going on?! To get to this bottom of this conundrum, I contacted some of the best fighters, managers, and trainers in the game and asked them a simple question: “What is your #1 tip to land a sponsorship?” Each tip has a custom tweet link after it so feel free to share your favorite tips with your followers. Let’s Get Ready To Ruuuummmmbllllllleee!!! Frank Shamrock Frank Shamrock is a retired MMA Fighter. CANADIAN RESIDENTS MUST CLICK HERE TO ORDER THE SHOW UFC hall of famer Ken Shamrock will meet Pedro Rizzo in the Impact FC 2 “The Uprising: Sydney” main event on July 17 at the Sydney Entertainment Centre in Sydney, Australia. The promotion has announced nine bouts for the show. Shamrock, having dropped five of his last six fights, has not competed since he submitted the late Ross Clifton at a Wargods event in February 2009. He was suspended in wake of the victory after testing positive for suspected steroid use. The 46-year-old recently admitted to using performance-enhancing drugs during his 17-year career. A Marco Ruas protege, Rizzo has posted back-to-back wins against Gary Goodridge and Jeff Monson. The 36-year-old Brazilian — known and revered for his powerful leg kicks — fought for the UFC heavyweight crown three times but failed in each attempt. Victories against former UFC champions Andrei Arlovski, Ricco Rodriguez and Mark Coleman highlight his resume. Rizzo opened his professional career with nine consecutive wins, eight of them finishes. Finally, exiled world-ranked welterweight Paul Daley will face off with Daniel Acacio in his first appearance since being released by the UFC. Daley dropped a unanimous decision to Josh Koscheck at UFC 113 in May and threw an ill-advised sucker punch at the American Kickboxing Academy standout following the conclusion of their bout.

‘The Brock Lesner of Estonia’ Denis Smoldarev The New breed of MMA heavyweights ‘M-1 Challenge 45’ Feb. 28 in St. Petersburg, Russia ST. PETERSBURG, Russia (February 13, 2014) – The new breed of MMA heavyweights, M-1 Global Heavyweight contender Denis Smoldarev, will be unleashed February 28 in the main event of M-1 Challenge 45 against Ante “Walking Trouble” Delija, at Atmosphere Show Hall in St. Petersburg, Russia. M-1 Challenge 45 will air live on Russia 2, the terrestrial channel, throughout Russia and the Commonwealth of Individual States (CIS), as well as across the Middle East on Abu Dhabi Sports Channels. Smoldarev (5-0-0, 2 KO/TKO, 1 SUB), known as “The Brock Lesner of Estonia,” battles the man billed as the next great Croatian MMA star, Delila (9-1-0, 3 KO/TKO, 1 SUB), in a M-1 Global title elimination fight to determine the No. 1 heavyweight contender. Standing 6′ 5″ and tipping the scales at 250-pounds, Smoldarev (pictured to left) is a physically imposing athlete who was the heavyweight winner of the M-1 Selection Grand Prix. Only 24 years old, he advanced to the semifinals of the 2013 M-1 Heavyweight Grand Prix but was forced out of the competition only two days prior to his scheduled fight due to a knee injury. “I definitely consider myself a new generation of MMA fighter, as diversified as possible,” said Smoldarev, who started studying judo at the age of 12. “I can fight both on my feet and wrestle on the ground. I prefer to win via decision but always look forward to an error my opponent makes so I can finish him early, if possible.
