The 100,000 Opportunities Initiative will launch in Chicago with a first of its kind “Opportunity Fair & Forum”- a day-long resource and job fair led by a coalition of employers offering jobs to work ready pre-screened opportunity youth and community based organizations providing development and enrichment for the young people of Chicago with the goal to streamline employment pathways, making hundreds of job offers, and serving at least 3,000 youth in Chicago.

JOB & RESOURCE FAIR | 8:00AM – 3:30PM

The day will begin with an Opportunity Fair featuring the following:

29 COMPANIES 40+ COMMUNITY BASED 3,000+ REPRESENTED ORGANIZATIONS OPPORTUNITY Most interviewing youth Will be onsite supporting the YOUTH event and engaging with youth and some making on the Throughout the day spot job offers Innovative, inspirational and interactive experiences for youth and their families will occur throughout the day and include: workshops, college counseling, skill development, resume building, fun events and activities.

INSPIRATIONAL FORUM | 4:00PM-6:30PM

The day will conclude with an inspirational forum for 3,000 + Opportunity youth

 Hosted by Grammy & Academy Award winning performing artist and actor, Common  Inspirational conversations and storytelling, led by Common, local “heroes,” and business leaders  Transformational youth stories  LIVE performances from major headlining artists

The Aspen Institute’s Forum for Community Solutions will act as an intermediary for the initiative in the hiring cities, building upon the existing work of its national Opportunity Youth Incentive Fund (OYIF). The OYIF currently supports collaborative efforts focused on Opportunity Youth in 21 communities around the country. The Aspen Institute will provide direct leadership, technical assistance, and programmatic support to launch the 100,000 Opportunities Initiative in Chicago and future cities.

These young, motivated workers are a vital and untapped resource looking to fill millions of open roles. Together with the Aspen Forum for Community Solutions and leading foundations, nearly 30 leading, U.S.-based companies have formed the 100,000 Opportunities – COMMON Initiative, an employer-led coalition committed to creating pathways to meaningful employment for America’s young people.

Together, these companies, community based organizations, innovators, and foundations will convene regional alliances of public and non-profit service providers to create pathways to opportunity, build a multi-million dollar fund and leverage innovative programming and partners to create best in class pathway strategies, and develop tools and systems that can be scaled nationally and beyond.

Our efforts will focus in three to five key cities, partnering deeply with the local community to test programs for collective impact. The Initiative will launch in Chicago with a signature Opportunity Fair and Forum event, demonstrating the power of the coalition to make an immediate impact in the lives of young people.
