The film offers not only a reminder of Springsteen’s lyrical genius, but of how he’s always served as a beacon for the disenfranchised.” The Independent Javed is a Pakistani teenager who experiences racial and economic turmoil while living in Luton, England, in 1987. He writes poetry as a way to escape the intolerance of his hometown and the stubborn views of his traditional father. When a classmate introduces him to the music of Bruce Springsteeen, Javed sees parallels between the singer’s powerful lyrics and his own working-class environment. Springsteen’s melodies soon inspire Javed to find his own voice and follow his dreams. Tues 11th 2pm Film - “Downton Abbey” (PG) Tickets £3 Excitement is high at Downton Abbey when the Crawley family learns that King George V and Queen Mary are coming to visit. But trouble soon arises when Mrs. Patmore, Daisy and the rest of the servants learn that the king and queen travel with their own chefs and attendants — setting the stage for an impromptu scheme and other shenanigans. Accessible Cabaret seating/no steps/ hearing loop/ tea and biscuits £1/local Free Bus available Supported by the Friends of Bishop’s Castle Community, Care Home and Hospital. Accompanying Carers Free Thurs 13th 7pm Documentary Film - “A Dog called Money” (15) Tickets £6/£4 Award-winning war photographer and filmmaker Seamus Murphy explores the creative inspiration behind PJ Harvey’s ninth studio album in A Dog Called Money, an arresting, kaleidoscopic documentary film essay charting their travels together in Afghanistan, Kosovo and the US. Inspired by the songs and stories they encounter on the road, Murphy and Harvey examine the many ways in which music unites communities in areas of conflict and deprivation. Throughout their travels, he collects footage and images, while she notes down snatches of the lyrics which will later form her album, The Hope Six Demolition Project. Back in London, Harvey inverts these ideas of documentation and scrutiny by inviting the public to observe the album’s recording behind one-way glass during a 5-week Fri 14th 6pm Film - A Shaun the Sheep Movie “Farmageddon” (PG) Tickets £6/£4 British stop-motion animated science fiction comedy film produced by Aardman Animations. When an alien possessing strange powers crash-lands near Mossy Bottom Farm, Shaun quickly makes a new friend. Together they must run from a dangerous organisation who wants to capture the intergalactic visitor.
