FOUNDING SUCCESS: The Legacy of Pi Kappa Alpha

Pi Kappa Alpha’s history is rich in tradition. Founded in 1868 by six men at the University of Virginia, Pi Kappa Alpha was among the United States’ fi rst social college fraternities.

Over the years, the Fraternity has grown to over 200 chapters throughout the United States and Canada. Boasting over 220,000 lifetime initiated members, Pi Kappa Alpha is a recognized force on many college campuses throughout the fraternity world.

The shared experience of Pike membership still causes individuals to make the most of their college experience. These individuals, as well as the long history of Pi Kappa Alpha, are testaments to the Fraternity’s exclusive and consistent superiority in collegiate programming, scholarship, membership, and leadership.

Perhaps the best opportunity that Pi Kappa Alpha provides is the ability to cultivate a socially superior man. Pi Kappa Alpha challenges its members to be pillars of integrity and beacons of insight on their college campuses and within their communities. Professional and distinguished alumni teach younger members how to equip themselves with and utilize the tools of leadership through the social laboratory of the fraternity.

Furthermore, by being members of the Greek community, Pikes experience what it means to be involved and responsible individuals who promote community service, active campus involvement, and high standards of academic achievement. OUR CREED

We believe in the importance of virtue and commit to living the values of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. We recognize that truth is the foundation of all lasting association, and we will seek wisdom and knowledge while serving others in modesty and dignity.

Recalling that Pi Kappa Alpha is a lifelong commitment, I therefore reaffi rm to live my life with honor and courage seeking the inherent worth in each person I meet; to accept all brothers of Pi Kappa Alpha in love and friendship; and to serve my faith, my family, my community, my alma mater, and my Fraternity.

Only then, by living these virtues, will we realize our fullest potential.

The Challenge of a Lifetime

Pi Kappa Alpha consists of Scholars, Leaders, Athletes and Gentlemen. If you exemplify one or several of these ideals, you could be just the type of person that Pi Kappa Alpha is looking for.

Right now, Pi Kappa Alpha is working hard to fi nd men who want to be champions, men who are dedicated to a common vision. Perhaps you are looking for ways to enhance your college experience. Perhaps you are looking for ways to get involved. Only you can judge what you want out of a fraternity. You know what Pi Kappa Alpha has to offer. You also know what Pike membership expects. You know the facts.

And now it’s time to make a decision.

Just remember that too many people complete their college career with regrets. At this moment, you have an opportunity to join an organization that will impact and infl uence your campus community, professional career, and leadership ability.
