Town Street DA4 Clayworth 76 Wiseton Retford DN22 9AD Total – 347 FA3 Carr Hill Primary 802 John Mann MP Considering the two fatalities of children East Retford East School outside the school, the additional traffic Tiln Lane using this school should be a GA1 Retford 358 consideration. East Retford North DN22 6SW Total – 1,160 On traffic safety and child welfare grounds this polling station should be closed and FA3 and GA1 relocated to St Saviours church hall. There is minimal inconvenience to voters in this proposal and the furthest distance for voters to get to the polling station will in fact be reduced. 3 Polling Polling Place Electorate Individual / Organisation Comments / Representations made District June 2019 Code FA4 Retford Little Theatre 761 Bassetlaw Action Centre Could Bassetlaw Action Centre be East Retford East Wharf Road considered? It has been used previously Retford for polling. IA4 DN22 6EN 672 East Retford West Total – 1,433 FA5 Bracken Lane Primary 1,086 Bracken Lane Primary As a primary school it causes us and our East Retford East School Academy parents and children much disruption being Bracken Lane a polling station. Retford DN22 7EU Does not consider the buildings suitable for voting purposes. Too much disruption to children’s learning. Parents and children inconvenienced. This school has to close and the Elms Hotel provides a suitable alternative. This should be the priority if the Elms Hotel is deemed unsuitable for two polling districts. The approach of the council should be to reduce costs where possible as this also ensures higher quality control over polling stations by closing a few of the smallest, where a suitable alternative is available. 4 Polling Polling Place Electorate Individual / Organisation Comments / Representations made District June 2019 Code John Mann MP A higher priority must be to attempt to eliminate school use where a school has to close and/or where there are highways safety concerns. It is possible to close Carr Hill and Bracken Lane accordingly and it may be possible to close Thrumpton as polling stations with little real impact on voters. HA1 Westhill Community 1,172 Councillor Carolyn Troop Do you have any comments on the East Retford South Centre East Retford South Ward Consultation Document? - Appendix, page Cheyne Wak 7, HA2 East Retford South 3 Welbeck Ordsall Road, Ordsall. Do you consider the buildings suitable for voting purposes? – Yes except 3 Welbeck Road Do you think there is a more suitable building within the same polling district? – Ordsall Bridon Cricket Club Pavilion could be considered to replace 3 Welbeck Road. Gringley-on-the-Hill Doncaster Gringley-on-the-Hill Parish I wish to point out that in the Review it DN10 4RT Council Clerk states that Gringley Community Centre only has on-street parking. • THE RUDD Happy New Year, Ruddington! We’Re Back in Lockdown and There’S Still a Long Way to Go Before Things Get Anywhere Near Back to Normal
January 2021 FREE - MONTHLY Issue No. 39 THE RUDD Happy New Year, Ruddington! We’re back in lockdown and there’s still a long way to go before things get anywhere near back to normal. But we’re now into a fresh new year and here’s hoping that 2021 will ultimately bring better things. Having said that, looking back over the last 12 issues of The Rudd – especially the editions published since the first lockdown began in March – it’s amazing to see how much positivity, goodwill and cheer there was to be found in the village during the last year. As we finally say “Goodbye” (or “Good Riddance”) to a year that will go down in history for all the wrong reasons, let’s take a look at some of the better reasons to remember Ruddington in 2020. Community spirit – and then some! When COVID-19 changed our lives in spring 2020, communities around the country pulled together to support those who were shielding or otherwise vulnerable, lonely or isolated. Our village was no exception and the swiftly formed Ruddington Community Response Team sprung into action. 1 On hand to help with a range of pupils, to support online teaching in activities from shopping, dog-walking the summer term. and collecting prescriptions to staving When the schools reopened, things got off loneliness with a friendly chat, our even tougher for our teachers, with the team of volunteers went above and pressures of coping with social beyond to provide vital support where distancing requirements and countless and when it was needed.

Response to Flooding (Drainage and Watercourses) Recommendations Title of review Flooding (Drainage and Watercourses) Date review completed 31/07/2008 Chair of the Select Committee Yvonne Davidson Lead Scrutiny Officer Martin Gately Email [email protected] Telephone 977 2826 Total number of pages 14 Recommendation 1 (of 18) Highways gullies are emptied more frequently. Preferably, a spring and autumn clean of gullies should take place. PART ONE to be completed two months after publication of review Response from the Cabinet Member/Executive to recommendation Date due Date provided I am currently in conjunction with other cabinet members considering the need for an additional £600,000 for gulley emptying and drain cleaning. Any additional investment will need to be targeted with gullies in areas prone to flooding having an increased cleaning frequency and other gullies being emptied once a year. The identification of the areas requiring more regular cleaning will be done in partnership with other drainage agencies such as the Environment Agency. PART TWO to be completed three months after Cabinet Member’s response Response from the Communities Department to progress on carrying out recommendation Date due Date provided The current aim is to make more effective use of existing budgets, and to ensure that in areas prone to flooding the gullies are kept clean as well as the drainage system that the gullies connect to, in partnership with drainage agencies. Many reports of blocked gullies are due to other problems in the drainage system, and it is important that we address the wider issue including maintenance, breakages and improvements.
