Previous meetings • Maciej Gajos scored the decisive goal as Lech surprised Fiorentina 2-1 in Italy on matchday three in the teams' maiden UEFA meeting. It was Lech's first victory in five games against Italian sides (W1 D3 L1). • Fiorentina had won both of their previous fixtures against Polish opponents by a two-goal margin, beating RTS Widzew Łódź 3-1 at home and 2-0 away in the 1999/2000 UEFA Champions League third qualifying round. Form guide • Fiorentina's 4-0 triumph at Os Belenenses on matchday two equalled their biggest margin of victory away from home in UEFA competition. • Lech progressed to the round of 32 in their two previous UEFA Cup and UEFA Europa League group stage participations. • Fiorentina have made it through to the round of 32 in all three of their UEFA Cup and UEFA Europa League group stage campaigns. Trivia and links • The journey from Florence to Poznan is around 1,050km. • The game is taking place the day after Lech forward Szymon Pawłowski's 29th birthday. • Fiorentina's on-loan Poland midfielder Jakub Błaszczykowski started his career at KS Częstochowa before moving on to Lech's domestic rivals Wisła Kraków in 2005. He reportedly went on trial with Lech as a youngster but was not offered a contract. He joined the Viola on a temporary basis in the summer after eight years at Borussia Dortmund. • Lech are one of ten sides in the group stage who qualified for Europe this season as domestic champions, along with KF Skenderbëu (Albania), Qarabağ FK (Albania), APOEL FC (Cyprus), FC Viktoria Plzeň (Czech Republic), FC Midtjylland (Denmark), FK Partizan (Serbia), Molde FK (Norway), Celtic FC (Scotland) and FC Basel 1893 (Switzerland). The coaches • Jan Urban replaced Maciej Skorża in the run-up to matchday three with the Polish champions bottom of the Ekstraklasa. Former Poland striker Urban won three national titles as a player and two more as Legia Warszawa coach. • A European champion as a player with Juventus (1996) and Dortmund (1997), erstwhile Portugal midfielder Paulo Sousa joined Fiorentina in June and is on the hunt for a third title in as many seasons, having won the 2013/14 Israeli crown with Maccabi Tel-Aviv FC and the Swiss Super League last term with Basel. 3 KKS Lech Poznań - ACF Fiorentina Thursday 5 November 2015 - 21.05CET (21.05 local time) Match press kit Municipal Stadium Poznan, Poznan Team facts KKS Lech Poznań Formed: 1922 Nickname: Kolejorz (Railwaymen) UEFA club competition honours (runners-up in brackets) • none Domestic honours (most recent triumph in brackets) League title: 7 (2015) Polish Cup: 5 (2009) Ten-year European record (UEFA Europa League/UEFA Cup unless indicated otherwise) 2014/15: third qualifying round 2013/14: third qualifying round 2012/13: third qualifying round 2011/12: did not compete in UEFA club competition 2010/11: round of 32 (having transferred from UEFA Champions League third qualifying round) 2009/10: play-offs 2008/09: round of 32 2007/08: did not compete in UEFA club competition 2006/07: UEFA Intertoto Cup second round 2005/06: UEFA Intertoto Cup second round Records UEFA club competition • Biggest home win 6-0: Lech v Grasshopper Club Zürich 29/08/08, UEFA Cup second qualifying round first leg • Biggest away win 1-6: Fredrikstad FK v Lech 30/07/09, UEFA Europa League third qualifying round first leg • Heaviest home defeat 1-5: Lech v FC Spartak Moskva 20/10/93, UEFA Champions League second round first leg • Heaviest away defeat 6-1: Olympique de Marseille v Lech 07/11/90, European Champion Clubs' Cup second round second leg 5-0: MSV Duisburg v Lech 13/09/78, UEFA Cup first round first leg UEFA Europa League/UEFA Cup • Biggest home win 6-0: Lech v Grasshopper Club Zürich (see above) • Biggest away win 1-6: Fredrikstad FK v Lech (see above) • Heaviest home defeat 2-5: Lech v MSV Duisburg 27/09/78, first round second leg • Heaviest away defeat 5-0: MSV Duisburg v Lech (see above) ACF Fiorentina Formed: 1926 Nickname: Viola (Purples) UEFA club competition honours (runners-up in brackets) • European Champion Clubs' Cup: (1957) • UEFA Cup: (1990) • UEFA Cup Winners' Cup (1): 1961, (1962) 4 KKS Lech Poznań - ACF Fiorentina Thursday 5 November 2015 - 21.05CET (21.05 local time) Match press kit Municipal Stadium Poznan, Poznan Domestic honours (most recent triumph in brackets) League title: 2 (1969) Italian Cup: 6 (2001) Ten-year European record (UEFA Europa League/UEFA Cup unless indicated otherwise) 2014/15: semi-finals 2013/14: round of 16 2012/13: did not take part in UEFA competition 2011/12: did not take part in UEFA competition 2010/11: did not take part in UEFA competition 2009/10: UEFA Champions League round of 16 2008/09: round of 32 (having transferred from the UEFA Champions League group stage) 2007/08: semi-finals 2006/07: did not take part in UEFA competition 2005/06: did not take part in UEFA competition Records UEFA club competition • Biggest home win 6-1: Fiorentina v IF Elfsborg 08/11/07, UEFA Cup group stage • Biggest away win 2-6: SK Rapid Wien v Fiorentina 25/10/61, UEFA Cup Winners' Cup second round second leg 0-4: Os Belenenses v Fiorentina 01/10/15, UEFA Europa League group stage • Heaviest home defeat 0-3 (forfeit): Fiorentina v Grasshopper Club Zürich 03/11/98, UEFA Cup second round second leg 0-3 (forfeit): Fiorentina v FC Schalke 04 14/09/77, UEFA Cup first round first leg 0-3: Fiorentina v Club Atlético de Madrid 05/09/62, UEFA Cup Winners' Cup final replay (played in Stuttgart) • Heaviest away defeat 6-2: RSC Anderlecht v Fiorentina 07/11/84, UEFA Cup second round second leg UEFA Europa League/UEFA Cup • Biggest home win 6-1: Fiorentina v IF Elfsborg • Biggest away win 0-4: Os Belenenses v Fiorentina • Heaviest home defeat 0-3 (forfeit): Fiorentina v Grasshopper Club Zürich (see above) 0-3 (forfeit): Fiorentina v FC Schalke 04 (see above) • Heaviest away defeat 6-2: RSC Anderlecht v Fiorentina (see above) 5 KKS Lech Poznań - ACF Fiorentina Thursday 5 November 2015 - 21.05CET (21.05 local time) Match press kit Municipal Stadium Poznan, Poznan Squad list KKS Lech Poznań Current season All-time UCL QUAL UEL League UEL UEFA No. Player Nat.
