DISTRICT PROFILE

The Tyler District plans, designs, builds, operates and maintains the state transportation system in the following counties: Anderson, Cherokee, Gregg, Henderson, Rusk, Smith, Van Zandt and Wood. The district primarily conducts asset preservation and mobility projects to ensure the safety of the traveling public.

MAINTENANCE: The Tyler District spends approximately $15 million annually on sealcoating projects. We also spend several million each year rehabilitating pavement on our interstate and US highway system. CORRIDORS: The district’s priority corridors are I-20, US 69, US 79, US 175 and SH 31. SAFETY: The district has pursued funding for numerous safety improvement projects, including grade separations, widening of narrow roadways, adding center- and edge-line rumble strips and overlaying roadways with surface mixes that reduce wet weather accidents.
