Babcock previously spent 10 seasons as head coach in Detroit, compiling a record of 458-223-105. He is the franchise leader for games coached (786) and wins (458). Babcock was the first coach in NHL history to guide a team to 50-wins in each of his first four seasons. He led the Red Wings to the 2008 .
