Overton was designated for assignment yesterday when the A’s signed Adam Rosales. Overton spent most of the 2016 season with Triple-A Nashville where he was 13-5 with a 3.29 ERA in 21 games, including 20 starts. He also had four brief stints with Oakland in his Major League debut and went 1-3 with an 11.47 ERA in seven games, including five starts. Overton allowed 12 home runs in 24.1 innings with the A’s after surrendering just 17 home runs in 288.2 career minor league innings. Goldstein was selected by Seattle in the ninth round of the 2016 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Illinois. He began his professional career with the Mariners affiliate in the Arizona Rookie League and went 4-for-10 (.400) in five games before he was moved up to Short-Season Single-A Everett. The 22-year-old right-handed hitter batted .255 in 14 games with the Aqua Sox and hit .279 with two doubles and six RBI in 19 games overall.
