Not only does it contain information about our Racecourses, but it also provides details about our Company and legal require- ments which are relevant to you. Jockey Club Catering—North Jockey Jockey Club Catering—North Jockey Jockey Club Catering Jockey Club Catering was set up in 2009 as a joint venture between Compass Group (UK & Ire- land) and the Jockey Club. Operating at 14 racecourses around the UK, JCC stages 350 race days per year, drawing crowds in excess of 1.8 million. It also stages many of the key events in the British sporting calendar, including the Cheltenham Festival, the Aintree Grand National and the Epsom Derby. Jockey Club Catering—North is a subsidiary of the Jockey Club and encompasses the three race- courses in the North West of England and the two in the East of England. Jockey Club Catering—North Jockey Jockey Club Catering—North Jockey We then ask you to confirm or reject each offer of work. The details of how to confirm or cancel your work offer will be detailed in the letter included with the job card. There is also a date and time by which your response is required. After this time your shift will be automatically cancelled. Each year you will be sent an updated availability form, you should complete and return this as soon as possible to ensure you remain on the live list of staff wishing to be booked for shifts. Cancelling Work, once confirmed The Company will pay you for the hour you have actually worked. If a function or event is can- celled or the number of workers required is reduced, even at the last moment , the Company has no obligation to compensate you. That said unless in exceptional circumstances North Rac- ing would usually agree to pay you for the hours you have worked. Once you have accepted an offer of work it is your duty to attend on time. If for any reason you are unable to attend you must inform the Staffing Department. Please note that failure to attend will be logged as such and anyone with 3 no shows will automatically have their work offers suspended. Personal Belongings We strongly recommend that items of value, (including mobile telephones, mp3 players etc) and large sums of money are not brought to any of our racecourses. Compass Group UK cannot take responsibility for any loss or damage for these, should you bring them. Terms and Conditions of Work Although you may have worked for us before, the basis of your engagement is that of a Casual Worker on a contract for services and not under a contract of employment. The Company is un- der no obligation to offer you employment. As a Casual Worker you undertake specific engagements and have the right to choose, without penalty whether or not to accept the offer of engagement. Your engagement automatically termi- nates at the end of your shift and the Company has no obligation to offer you further shifts. The Company reserves the right to transfer you to a suitable alternative work at any time and without prior notice. The casual worker or the Company may terminate the engagement at any time without giving prior notice. The Company reserves the right to vary your booking to meet changes in business requirements. Jockey Club Catering—North Jockey Jockey Club Catering—North Jockey Uniform Standards You will be provided with an apron and shirt to wear however you are required to attend work wearing: 1. Smart full length, formal plain black trousers (no patterns or stripes) 2. Plain black t-shirt 3. Plain black socks with no patterns Flat black, well polished fully enclosed shoes (no stripes) NO PUMPS OR TRAINERS NO TRAINERS OR BLACK COMBAT TROUSERS/BLACK JEANS OR SKIRTS. Any member of staff not dressed to the above standard will be asked to leave site. In addition please take note of the points below: HAIR – All long hair must be worn tied back with a conservative clip or tie JEWELLERY – With the exception of a plain Wedding ring and a watch, NO JEWELLERY in- cluding ear piercings may be worn. Any employees who disregard this policy may find that their employment is terminated with immediate effect. HANDS – Nails should be short, no nail varnish of any colour or false nails to be worn FACIAL HAIR – All Males must be clean shaven PERSONAL HYGIENE – Please bathe or wash all over daily NAME BADGES – when issued to you should be worn at all times when you are on duty, and should be returned at the end of your shift. Any member of staff found chewing gum will be asked to leave site immediately and will forfeit the remainder of their shift. If you do not comply with our uniform standards you may not be allowed to start work, or your shift terminated if you already have. Jockey Club Catering—North Jockey Breaks You will be entitled to a statutory break, which will be allocated by your manager and de- ducted from your pay as follows: Under 18 20 minutes for every 4 continuous hours worked 18 & Over 20 minutes for every 6 continuous hours worked Workers under the age of 18 must also not work for more than 40 hours per week. Staff lunches will be issued at Staff Check in on Race Days so please do ensure you collect yours. Payment The pay week runs from Thursday to Wednesday, with payment being made into your bank account one week in arrears on a Wednesday. Our basic rates of pay are: Under 18 - £4.75 per hour Over 18 - £6.08 per hour You will be entitled to holiday pay, which is accrued as a percentage each time you work. To apply for paid leave please contact the Staffing Team before Wednesday 4pm. Should you have a query with your pay, you should complete a pay query form with as much information as possible to allow us to look into this in full. HANDICAPS AND OTHER RATING RELATED RACES HANDICAP RATING FOR QUALIFICATION Before making entries for Handicaps and other Rating Related races, reference must be made to the qualifying Rating Lists published on the Information area of the British Horseracing Authority Racing Administration Service Internet site each Tuesday. These ratings will apply for qualification purposes for races closing on the Tuesday of publication through to the following Monday. Amendments to these qualifying ratings will also be published, for information, on the Information area of the Racing Administration Internet site. HANDICAPS WITH SPLIT ENTRY STAKE FEES For those Handicap races which have a split entry stake fee dependent on the Handicap rating of the horse, i.e. £xx stake if the horse is rated aa or higher, or £yy stake if the horse is rated bb or lower with £zz extra if the horse is declared to run The relevant stake fee shall be determined by the Handicap rating used to calculate the weight for each horse entered in the race in question, and not by the published qualifying rating, if any.
