THE CAYENNE TURBO

 The model that has defined a genre is more potent yet efficient than ever before  This is the Cayenne that can achieve the seemingly impossible: performance, everyday practicality, and go-anywhere ability, all in one luxury package  Powered by a 4,806 cc, water-cooled, all-aluminium V8 with twin- that delivers 520 hp at 6,000 rpm, and 750 Nm of from 2,250 to 4,000 rpm  Capable of accelerating from rest to 62 mph in 4.5 seconds before reaching a maximum speed of 173 mph; achieves 28.8-29.7 mpg on the combined cycle, and emits 261-267 g/km of CO2 (range of figures due to different wheel-tyre choice)  On sale now, priced from £93,574

 The original Cayenne Turbo of 2003 achieved the hitherto impossible: a luxury SUV with the performance and dynamics of a high performance car. The latest Turbo encapsulates that ideal, but develops it much further with the latest Porsche automotive technology for a stunning and versatile experience  The strong structure of the Cayenne Turbo is provided by an all-steel monocoque. Careful attention to detail design and selected chassis components made in aluminium help to keep the weight of it to a minimum  The suspension of the Cayenne Turbo uses the most sophisticated of the three setups available. That means aluminium double wishbone suspension on the front axle and a multi- link setup on the rear, but with Porsche Management (PASM) and also Porsche fitted as standard, including self-levelling and ride height control. Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV Plus) is an option, with electronic control of the rear axle torque split  The twin-turbo, all-aluminium in the Cayenne Turbo has a displacement of 4,806 cc, and features quad overhead camshafts, variable inlet valve timing and valve lift (VarioRam Plus), plus direct petrol injection. It produces a peak power output of 520 hp at 6,000 rpm and 750 Nm of torque from 2,250 to 4,000 rpm  The Cayenne Turbo is fitted with an eight-speed Tiptronic S automatic gearbox with gearshift controls on the wheel. Drive is taken to all four wheels via an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch in the centre differential, with a full variable torque split to the front axle. Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV Plus) is an option, with electronic control of the rear axle torque split  Given the power and torque at its disposal, it’s no surprise that the Cayenne Turbo rips from 0-62 mph in just 4.5 seconds, before reaching a maximum speed of 173 mph. Nevertheless, a mark of the latest car’s efficiency is that it has a fuel consumption of 28.8-29.7 mpg on the combined cycle, and emits only 261-267 g/km of CO2 (range of figures due to different wheel-tyre choice)  The Cayenne Turbo receives a suitably strong braking system to match its performance capability: up front six-piston calipers grip 390mm discs, while on the rear axle 358mm discs are combined with four-piston calipers. Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) discs are available as an option  With its carefully sculpted styling, integral roof spoiler and Porsche active aerodynamics – such as the active cooling flaps behind the central air intake, which open and close automatically to prioritise cooling or low drag – the Cayenne Turbo has a coefficient of drag of 0.36, impressive for a vehicle of this type  The interior of the Cayenne Turbo is an appealing mix of sportiness, luxury and spaciousness, with room for up to five adults. LED headlamps featuring PDLS are standard on the Turbo model, as are a wealth of features inside the cabin. Owners can choose to further personalise their cars with additional features such as an Adaptive Cruise system, soft-closing doors and a ‘birds eye’ parking camera system, to name just a few
