THE FALL of BABYLON Revelation 17-18 There Are Two THE FALL OF BABYLON Revelation 17-18 There are two Babylon’s! There is one that is mystical, and religious, and one that is Materialistic. Babylon---wealthy, intriguing, and immoral is mentioned more times in the Bible than any city other than Jerusalem. It is believed that the BEAST uses three cities in his reign upon the earth. He will begin in ROME as head of the Revived Roman Empire; then he will jet to Jerusalem to carry out his plan for the JEWS (establishing himself as the Supreme High Commander), finally, he will move his command base to “BABYLON” the economic and political hub of his empire. MYSTERY BABYLON (Revelation 17:1-6) It introduced a false religious system started by Nimrod at the Tower of Babel. Nimrod’s wife promoted the high priestess of Idolatry. The worship of the mother and child was birthed. The liturgy of worship was defined, as the mother was identified as “QUEEN OF HEAVEN.” Jer. 44:15- 19. The mother son cult ended in Rome, where the Roman Emperor was elected Pontifex Maximus (THE GREATEST HIGH PRIEST). When the Roman Emperor was gone, the Bishop of Rome assumed all the titles and responsibilities; today he is known as the. “POPE.” This was the birth of the Catholic Church which embraced false doctrine reported by Dr. HA Ironside. There is no such thing in the Bible as the worship of female deity, and MARY was never presented as anything other than the humble servant of GOD who was chosen as the virgin to bear Jesus. BABYLON IS THE GREAT WHORE! No respectable woman wants to be called such a name, but in Revelation 17 is no lady. The Greek word for “whore” is the word “porne”, which is usually translated in the New Testament by the word, “HARLOT.” This is a vile description of the end time church! Lots of spiritual adultery! Its outwardly religious but untrue to a personal relationship to JESUS! There is apostacy and religion! In the last days people will abandon the faith and follow deceptive spirits being taught by demons! (1 Timothy 4:1-2). The scarlet woman represents an apostate religious system that will combine weak Protestantism with Catholicism, spiritualism, humanism, and the occult into one great satanic connection. Apostasy is happening all around us. Pulpits, radio, TV, online, and in seminaries abound in false doctrines! This is what apostasy is all about! The forsaking the true meaning of scripture and biblical doctrine. Its choosing to believe those things contrary to the Word of God or twisting God’s word out of context. False doctrines, and New Age teaching is the doctrine of demons wrapped in slick new packages. Mystery Babylon is driven by the prostitute that use her influence over people, multitudes, nations, and languages. Mystery Babylon, the spiritual whore, establishes her base of operation in Rome, the logical place for a concentration of power. It was from Rome that the Caesars reached out to conquer the world from ROME, Now the papal authority has reached out to every corner of the earth. The scarlet woman represents an apostate system that will combine weak Protestantism with Catholicism, Humanism, and the Occult into one great satanic connection. The Apostle John could understand why pagan Rome would torture and kill believers, because he had seen it himself. How much do you know about the Inquisition? Halley’s Bible Handbook contains a detailed description of Roman brutality! It was the means to crush the Reformation! Lead by the Roman Catholic Church and the Papacy. In 30 years between 1540-1570, no fewer than 900,000 Protestants were put to death. Think of the Monks and the Priest acting with such brutality in the work of torturing, burning alive, and inflicting such pain all in the name of Christ! It was devised by the POPES and used for 500 years to maintain their power. YES, Rome has drank the blood of the saints and during the Tribulation believers will suffer likewise under the rule of One World Church, Mystery Babylon! The Antichrist will eventually destroy Mystery Babylon! He wants complete domination and no competition! GOODBYE TO BABYLON! (Revelation 18) Some think the ancient city of Babylon will be rebuilt and become the headquarters for the Beast. This seems very unlikely to me. Saddam Hussein attempted to rebuild the city of Babylon and endeavor to put his name on every brick used in the campaign. The bible tells us Babylon will sink never to rise again! The Beast will have a city headquarters, but it seems to be in Rome. In First Peter, the Apostle, refers to Rome as Babylon! (1 Peter 5:13) It seems Rome and its religion are a good fit for the Beast, but the system seems much larger than this one location. In Revelation 17:5, GOD calls Babylon “the mother of harlots” who is devoured and destroyed in judgment by the rulers of political Babylon. BABYLON IS DOMINATED BY DEMONS (18:1-6 ESV) These demons are the devil’s dirty birds that defile the landscape. Babylon will rise from the dust and become Babylon the Great when the Antichrist takes his throne. During the Great Tribulation the world will be infested and lead by demonic spirits that have nested in Ancient Babylon. Satan has been building a Babylonian system of iniquity in this world. GOD has not forgotten. She will be paid back double for all she has done. As we move closer to the Second Advent of Jesus, we will see the escalation of the tidal wave of sin, debauchery, and demonism. This system is in the world today! The Beast will become a law unto himself! Global corporations will make their headquarters in Babylon, and the Beast will rule over the system. BABYLON IS DESTINED FOR DESTRUCTION! (18:8-10 ESV) The Beast can not hold back the judgment of GOD! The bible tells us she will be destroyed in one hour! How will she be destroyed? Some think by an atomic blast! We can not always know the meaning of the symbolism but the truth is Babylon will be completely and thoroughly destroyed, annihilated and sovereignly smitten by GOD. BABYLON IS DEPRSSING IN DESOLATION (18:10-23 ESV) All the luxury and arrogant splendor of this city will be gone in one hour. Merchants will weep and mourn over her destruction. The fashion and costly garments will be gone! Mystery Babylon will be thrown into the abyss of judgment. REJOICING IN TEARS! (18:20 ESV) “Rejoice over her, O heaven, and you saints and apostles, and prophets. For God has given judgment for you against her!” The saints in heaven are rejoicing, worshipping and honoring GOD in His glory. They are called to look down upon the earth. They will see the vile evil city of Babylon of godlessness come to her final doom! This is a cause for celebration! .

    Revelation 18: The Fall of Babylon Chapter 17 provided a chain of metaphors that identified Babylon. In chapter 17, verse 18, the woman on the beast is the great city, and in verse 5, she is Babylon the great. Leading up to chapter 18, in Revelation 14:8, where the three angels announce the coming wrath of God, John saw the second angel who said: 8 And another, a second angel, followed, saying, “Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great, that has made all the nations to drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.” As the wrath of God, in the seventh bowl, poured out in Revelation 16:19, John wrote, 19 And the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell: and Babylon the great was remembered in the sight of God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath. Chapter 18 goes into a great and detailed lament over the end of Babylon, the great city, where it contrasts with chapter 21 where the glories and beauties of the New Jerusalem—the bride of Christ, the heavenly city, the church—shines with the glory of God. Babylon with its citizens of the world versus the New Jerusalem with its saints, made perfect, tell the story of the redeemed and lost in these final chapters of God’s revelation. After chapter 18, the terms Babylon and great city do not appear again in The Revelation. Their retribution in this chapter is the very end of them.

The view we’ve been teaching (Premillennialism) says there will be a literal world leader (antichrist) who is able to establish peace treaty in the Middle East between Israel and her neighbors for 7 years (Dan. 9:24-27). In the middle of the 7 years he walks into the temple in Jerusalem, takes away the sacrifices (Dan. 12:11), and declares himself to be God (Dan. 9:27; 11:31; Matt. 24:15; Mark 13:14; 2 Thess. 2:3-4). He forces everybody to worship him (2 Thess. 2:4; Rev. 13:15) and requires them to have a mark in order to buy or sell anything anywhere in the world (Rev. 13:16). Matthew 24 helps us see that Jesus’ taught the above scenario too. Jesus mentions all of the following: the existence of the nation of Israel, the temple in Jerusalem, the antichrist, tribulation, the second coming (and possibly rapture). But this mark is just a copy of the idea behind the identifying mark on the foreheads of each one of the 144,000, showing that they belong to the Father.

More specifically, this article will consider the meaning and function of 20:1–6 within Revelation as it relates to the contemporary debate about whether this section is best understood within a premillennial or amillennial framework. Hermeneutically, most of the de- bate has centered around how literally the reference to the one thousand years in 20:1–6 should be taken and, more importantly, the relationship be- tween 20:1–6 and 19:11–21. Focus will be on two trajectories of interpretation: literalist, eschatological readings and symbolic, spiritualizing interpretations of the text. Whilst the first approach reads the book as predictions of future events, the second approach links the text with spiritual themes and contents that do not refer to outstanding events in time and history. The essay will argue that both of these trajectories are ultimately determined by political considerations. In a final section, a contemporary reading of Revelation will be analysed in order to illustrate the continuing and important presence of political readings in the reception history of Revelation, albeit in new, unique forms. Foreword Who is afraid of the number 666 (Revelation 13:18)? I’m not! It is not the number of Satan, the devil, the serpent, the dragon. It is not the number of the Antichrist. It is just the number of man. It is the number of a man or human, who has godly aspirations. The number 666 is a so-called triangle number. This means that a triangle can be made by using for instance 666 pebbles, just like a triangle can be made from three, six or ten pebbles. Within the context of Revelation, triangle numbers refer to the godly realm. Revelation 13:11-18 describes the mechanisms of persecution when the political powers and ideologies ask the predominant religion od atheism for support of their agenda. This calls for wisdom not for fear. The main question is, how to deal as Christian with a man, an Emperor, a government, an ideology with godly aspirations and requesting worship and total obedience from the people of a nation. A Christian and the church must know that Christ has overcome all powers, and all ideologies (Revelation 11:15). Revelation 13:1-18 opens our eyes to the mechanisms of past and modern-day persecutions. The context, form and structure, theological notes, technical and hermeneutical notes given in this sermon outline show some overlap with other sermon outlines taken from the book of Revelation.

Everyone worshipped it except those who were found in the Book of Life.

Beale's latest commentary on Revelation and Kim Riddlebarger's new book A Casefor Ami~~ennialismhave renewed interest in the debate on the nature of the millennium.' Amillennialism has an illustrious history of support from Augustine, theologians of the Calvinistic and ~utheran confessions, and a long line of Reformed theologians such as Abraham Kuyper, Amin Vos, H. Ridderbos, A. A. Hoekema, and M. G. line? Amillennialists recognize that a straightforward reading of the text seems to show "the chronologicalp'ogression of Rev 19-20, the futurity of Satan's imprisonment,the physicality of 'the first resurrection' and the literalness of the one thousand years" (emphasis supplied).) However, they do not accept a chronologicalprogression of the events in these chapters, preferring instead to understand the events as recapitulatory. Their rejection of the natural reading of the text is driven by a hermeneutic of strong inaugurated eschatology4-the paradox that in the Apocalypse divine victory over the dragon and the reign of Christ and his church over this present evil world consist in participating with Christ in his sufferings and death? Inaugurated eschatology emphasizes Jesus' victory over the powers of evil at the cross. Since that monumental event, described so dramatically in Rev 12, Satan has been bound and the saints have been reigning (Rev 20). From the strong connection between the two chapters (see Table 1 below) they infer that Rev 20 recapitulates Rev 12.
