NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Ministry of Tourism, Sport and the Arts 2006TSA0018-000597 May 16, 2006 TV PRODUCTIONS DOUBLE OVER LAST MAY VANCOUVER – The number of television productions currently underway in B.C. is double that of last year, Tourism, Sport and the Arts Minister Olga Ilich announced today. Currently, there are 13 series and five movies-of-the-week in production. In May 2005, six series, one mini-series, one pilot and one movie-of-the-week were in production. “Globally, we are seeing an increased interest in dramatic television series – and today’s numbers give us reason to be optimistic that 2006 will be a strong year for us as well,” said Ilich. “This is testament to our skilled crews, world-class facilities and innovative measures taken by government and industry to ensure B.C. remains competitive.” “Our creative economy is only as strong as the talent pool within it,” said Ilich. “The film and television industry is a very fluid sector and B.C.’s creative pool is experienced and nimble enough to adjust to new conditions and seize new opportunities.” B.C.’s film and television industry experienced a major turnaround in 2005, reaching $1.233 billion, up from $801 million in 2004. Television production in 2005 included 31 television series, 37 movies-of-the-week, 15 television pilots and five mini-series. Television series currently shooting in B.C. include: Stargate SG-1, Battlestar Galactica, The 440, Masters of Horror and Robson Arms. New series this year include: Blade, Eureka, Kyle XY, Psych, Saved and Three Moons Over Milford. -

We are the writers of feature films and television series. All of our work is done under union contracts whether it appears on Amazon Prime, a different streaming service, or a television network. Unions protect workers with essential rights and benefits. Most importantly, a union gives employees a seat at the table to negotiate fair pay, scheduling and more workplace policies. Deadline Amazon accepts unions for entertainment workers, and we believe warehouse workers deserve the same respect in the workplace. In fiction, they have historically played a significant role. Fictions of science continue to exert power via important multimedia platforms for considerations of the role of science and technology in our world. And, because of their importance for the development, ideologies and policies of any nation, these considerations can be correlated with the deliberation of the role of a nation in the world, including its internal and external images and imaginings. -

INTRODUCTION Look at virtually any Covid-19 case favoring an insurer, and you will find a citation to Section 148:46 of Couch on Insurance.1 It is virtually ubiquitous: courts siding with insurers cite Couch as restating a “widely held rule” on the meaning of “physical loss or damage”—words typically in the trigger for property-insurance coverage, including business- income coverage. It has been cited, ad nauseam, as evidence of a general consensus that all property-insurance claims require some “distinct, demonstrable, physical alteration of the property.”2 Indeed, some pro-insurer decisions substitute a citation to this section for an actual analysis of the specific language before the court. Abstract Gender equity in higher education is more than putting women on equal footing with men. It is eliminating barriers to participation and stereotypes that limit the opportunities and choices for both sexes. Gender equity is about enriching classrooms, widening opportunities, and expanding choices for all students. And I consider that this supposition can be applied not only to the education but all rhetoric of everyday life. Thus, the goal of gender education is not only to provide students with proper knowledge, but deconstruct stereotypes in their thinking and behaviour. Hence, all courses about gender issues must be based on the principle “explain to me – and I will forget; show me - and I will remember; let me participate – and I will understand”. The teaching methodology in subject-orientated (gender) class first of all must be targeted at active student-centered learning (learning by doing and changing by learning) (Gritzenko, 2003). In Ukraine, the issue of getting closer to the international higher educational standards was raised in the late 1990s. It related not only to the courses’ content, curricula and syllabi’s renewal, but transforming national universities as social institutes on the whole. -

Arranged What Literature Knows historically, contributions address both popular and canonical English and Antje Kley US-American writing from the early modern period to the present. Kai Merten is professor of British Literature at the University of Erfurt, Germany.
