Pupil Voice - Wembley Arena Trip

On Wednesday 4th March, representatives from each of Portway's pupil voice groups were invited to attend the SSE Arena to celebrate WE Day. Our pupils earned their right to attend this event due to their work on making a difference to the world. This included donating food to homeless organisations, recycling plastic and introducing Meat Free Mondays at Portway. At the WE Day event, the children heard from famous celebrities and activists such as Iris Elba, Jamie Oliver, Laura Whitmore, Leona Lewis and Gwendoline Christie who starred as in . They watched performances by international renowned bands, dance troupes and singers such as Callum Scott. They were also inspired to create social change by the Dove Self-esteem project; Alexandra, a deaf and blind medical student; Maya Ghazal, a Syrian refugee who overcame many struggles to attend attend university in London and become a UN ambassador and an airline pilot. What a fantastic and purposeful day!
