2 Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

Today is the Second Sunday of Easter which is also called Sunday. On April 30, 2000, Pope, St. John Paul II canonized St. Faustina who received from Jesus the revelation of the Divine Mercy. On this special occasion, the Pope also extended this Feast to the entire Church on the Sunday after Easter. The reminds us of the Father of mercy whose mercy manifested in the sacrificial death of His Son, Jesus Christ, on the cross for our sins. The mercy of the Father is also manifested in the Holy Spirit whose mission is to sanctify us and to bring us back to God through the Sacrament of Reconciliation. As in today’s Gospel Jesus said: “Receive the Holy Spirit, whose sins you forgive are forgiven them”. Jesus Himself also invites us to come and touch His wounds as the signs of His mercy as He invited St. Thomas: “Put your finger here and see my hands, and bring your hand and put it into my side, and do not be unbelieving, but believe.” It is be- cause of God’s infinite mercy that our sins are forgiven us, the sins that nailed Jesus to the cross and pierced open His side. Let us come to worship our merciful God, let us come to touch the Divine Mercy in the wounds of our Lord Jesus and do not be unbelieving, but believe. May the Mercy of God melt our harden hearts so that we might be able to cry out from our hearts “my Lord and my God”. - Fr. Joe Pham
