On Sunday, October 11, 2009, Jeanne Jugan, Mother Foundress of the Little Sisters of the Poor, was Canonized in Rome by His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI. In Indianapolis, the Little Sisters, Residents, and friends of St. Augustine’s Home celebrated the Canonization of Jeanne Jugan on Sunday, October 25, 2009 with a special Mass, followed by a reception at the Home. His Excellency The Most Reverend Daniel Buechlein, Archbishop of Indianapolis, was the Principal Celebrant.
