Amanda Mobley led Rider with 14 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the floor, but the Wildcats outshot the Broncs, 52.6 percent to 25.0 percent to cruise to the victory. Six Broncs - Lenaejha Evans, Molly Lynch, Raphaela Toussaint, Sofie Bruintjes, Anna Ekerstedt and Makayla Firebaugh each made their Rider debuts, with Evans joining Maya Hyacienth and Victoria Toomey in making their first starts as Broncs. WHO’S BACK Rider returns Preseason All-MAAC Second Team selection Amanda Mobley, who averaged 9.2 points and 5.0 assists per game (2nd-MAAC) last season. Daija Moses started six of 29 games played a year ago and shot 45.2 percent in 18.4 minutes per game. Victoria Toomey and Maya Hyacienth also played in 23 and 25 games, respectively, off the Broncs’ bench. WHO’S MOVED ON Arguably the best player in program history, two-time MAAC Player of the Year Stella Johnson has moved on to a WNBA career with the Washington Mystics. Johnson was the 2019-20 Division I Scoring Champion (24.8 ppg.) and rewrote the Rider record book. All-MAAC Second Team selections Am- ari Johnson (MAAC-leading 16 double-doubles) and Lea Favre (11.9 ppg., 51.8 FG%), along with fellow starter Aubre Johnson and key reserves Lexi Stover and Tracey Goodman have also been lost to graduation. 2020-21 Rider Women’s Basketball ACCORDING TO THE MAAC’S COACHES... The Broncs were picked seventh in the MAAC Preseason Poll and Amanda Mobley was selected to the Preseason All-MAAC Second Team. Flu season in full swing at the College By Caroline Russomanno Arts & Entertainment Editor The flu has afflicted many College students lately, but according to Janice Vermeychuk, director of Health Services, this yearʼs flu season is not as bad as previous years. “Last year was a horrible year for the flu — we had 300 students in here with it,” Vermeychuk said. This yearʼs count hasnʼt reached those proportions yet, but the Collegeʼs flu season stretches until the start of Spring Break. “Spring Break tends to flush it out,” Barbara Clark, an adult Nurse Practitioner with Health Services, said. Tina Tan, the state epidemiologist for the Department of Health, said in a phone interview this season has not been “a more serious season compared to previous years. Weʼll have a better sense at the end of the season.” “All of the strains (of the flu) in the reported cases have been a match with the vaccine so far,” she added.
