    Developing Small Forwards by Mike Procopio

    Developing Small Forwards By Mike Procopio The Small Forward is very similar to a shooting guard as far as the skills that need to be developed. Usually the small forward is bigger than the shooting guard, which will open up more opportunities on both ends of the floor. Small forwards tend to handle the ball more in the offense than shooting guards do unless their team starts a combo guard or multiple point guards in the rotation. Most of your routine that you develop for a small forward workout should be similar than the drills used form the shooting guard workout. Where the workouts differ is the amount of screen and roll and offense off of the dribble should be increased in the small forward workout. Also, if the small forward that you are working with is bigger say 6'5 or taller at the high school/ college level or 6'6 or taller at the pro level a lot of post work should be incorporated in the routine. Opening Developing a small forward is like developing a point guard, shooting guard, and post player all in one. A small forward needs to know how to clear their defender so when you start working on off the dribble offense emphasize going somewhere with the dribble. Repetitions just like any position is very important with their mid and deep ranged jumpers. A player's physical traits (size,athletic ability, and skill) has a big impact on the workout that you put them through. Don't cookie cut your small forward workout for all small forwards.

The award is given to a deserving member of the sportinG world who has overcome Great obstacles throuGh perseverance and determination. In November 2020, Nikic became the first person with Down syndrome to complete an Ironman triathlon. At 21 years of age, Nikic finished a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bike ride and a 26.2-mile marathon run at the Ironman Florida competition in Panama City Beach in 16 hours, 46 minutes and 9 seconds, just 14 minutes under the 17-hour cutoff time. Throughout his traininG and completion of the race, Nikic inspired others to follow in his footsteps. SpreadinG his messaGe to be “1% better” every single day, in every aspect of life, Nikic might be the first but he certainly won’t be the last. Nikic will be presented with the Jimmy V Award for Perseverance durinG “The 2021 ESPYS,” hosted by Anthony Mackie, on ABC at 8 p.m. EDT on July 10. (Nasdaq: SBGI), announced that it has entered into an agreement with Cutting Edge Sports Management to broadcast the Dream Bowl for the next two years. The college all-star game will be played on Monday, Jan. 18, 2016 in Virginia Beach, Va. Oct. 17, 2019 GREENSBORO, N.C. – Clemson University Football and two-time National Championship coach Dabo Swinney will speak at the 2020 Fred Barakat Sports Dinner presented by the Carroll Companies benefitting the Matt Brown Learn-to-Swim Endowment, the Greensboro Sports Council announced today. Founded in 2008, The Fred Barakat Sports Dinner was renamed in 2011 in memory of the late associate commissioner of the Atlantic Coast Conference. The 2020 event is set for Wednesday, May 13 on the Greensboro Coliseum arena floor. Swinney led the Clemson Tigers to two of the last three College Football Playoff national championships. He took over as the Clemson head coach during the 2008 season and never looked back winning 122 of his 152 games including six wins this season for a .802 winning percentage. Swinney’s appearance at the Fred Barakat Sports Dinner will raise funds for the Matt Brown Learn-to-Swim program which aims to teach every second-grade student in the Guilford County School System water-safety skills. Sixty-one percent of all children and 64 percent of African American children do not know how to swim; drowning is the second-leading cause of unintentional injury death in the United States. “I’m looking forward to speaking in Greensboro next spring to help raise money for a great cause and remember the life of Fred Barakat who did so much for ACC Basketball,” Swinney said.
