It was the fourth time in head coach Tad Boyle’s tenure that Colorado has finished with at least 10 conference wins and fifth time in six seasons the Buffaloes finished league play with a record of .500 or better. Colorado reached 20 wins for the ninth time in program history and fifth in six years. The Buffaloes reached their overall win total from 2014-15 (16-18) in 13 fewer games (16-5). Colorado advanced to postseason play, past the conference tournament, for the sixth straight season, the best stretch in program history. The season included an 11-game win streak during the nonconference schedule. The Buffaloes’ NCAA RPI on Selection Sunday was 35. The Pac-12, had a phenomenal season as a whole, had six teams ranked in the top 50 and 10 in the top 100. Colorado was 9-10 against NCAA RPI top 100 teams during the regular season and 4-8 against the top 50.

Here is your 1961 Montana University football guide, a continuation of the new format that was established in 1959 by the MSU News Service. So far as football guides are concerned, we don’t pretend to compete with the slick printed brochures offered by many schools. This multilithed version is the Montana format for the simple reason that much of the material in any brochure is out of date once the season gets under way. As usual, this editor will follow usual procedure of providing comprehensive advance stories, feature material and photographs on a week-to-week basis, stressing mailing to areas where games are being played on a given weekend rather than saturating the field prior to the season We should also like to call your attention to “The Grizzly Gridiron,” a 175-page football history of the Grizzlies that was printed recently by the MSU Press.

    Records 2008-09 OUTLOOK COACHING STAFF PROFILES PLAYER OPPONENTS 2007-08 REVIEW TRADTION MAPLES PAVILIONAND HONORS HISTORY A Look Back: Stanford Sensational In 2007-08 A stingy, relentless defense that ranked among the nation’s top-10 for RECORDS much of the year helped keep Stanford in virtually every game. Cardinal opponents averaged just 61.6 points per game, shot 39.6 percent from the field and were held to 60 points or less on 18 different occasions. Stanford was also 19-1 when connecting at a 40 percent or better rate from the field while holding its foes to a percentage under 40. In addition to a stingy defense, winning the battle of the boards proved HOME OF CHAMPIONS critical. Stanford averaged 39.1 rebounds per game while limiting the opposition to just 31.4 per contest. Six different Cardinal players averaged at least 4.0 rebounds per game, helping the Cardinal produce a +7.8 rebounding margin over its opponents.
