Federal prosecutors charged a former Congressional aide on Thursday with working with the Iraqi intelligence service before the war, and investigators said she had sought to influence American policy by presenting herself to a highly placed relative, Andrew H. Card Jr., the White House chief of staff, as an intermediary. The woman, Susan P. Lindauer, 40, was arrested Thursday morning by federal agents at her home in Takoma Park, Md. Federal prosecutors unsealed an indictment that said she had repeatedly met with representatives of the Iraqi intelligence service starting in 1999 and that she had traveled to Baghdad in 2002 for meetings with Iraqi intelligence officials. Ms. Lindauer described herself as an antiwar activist and said she was innocent. The indictment said Ms. Lindauer delivered a letter early last year to a United States government official listing her access to and contacts with Saddam Hussein's government. Investigators said the official was Mr. Card, one of President Bush's closest associates. Ms. Lindauer [is] either a second cousin or a distant relative of Mr. Card. Federal law enforcement officials said that despite Ms. Lindauer's extensive contacts with the Iraqis, there was little evidence to suggest that she had harmed national security by passing any sensitive intelligence to the Hussein government. Instead, she was largely perceived, even by some law enforcement officials, as a woman who fancied herself a peacemaker. Susan Lindauer was described as mercurial and passionate in her politics, but those who know her said yesterday that she seemed an unlikely operative in Saddam Hussein's spy network. "Like a lot of us, she questioned why it was necessary for the U.S. to be in Iraq," said Thomas Kaufman, who lives across from the Manor Circle home where she lived. Lindauer . has traversed an unusual path in her 40 years, rejecting the politics of her father, a onetime Republican gubernatorial nominee in Alaska, and moving from job to job until her arrest yesterday on charges that she was paid by Iraqi intelligence agents before the U.S. invasion. A Smith College graduate with a master's degree in public policy from the London School of Economics, she worked as a temporary business reporter with the Seattle Post-Intelligencer in 1987 and then as an editorial writer at the Herald of Everett, Wash., for two years. The Herald is owned by The Washington Post Co. She worked briefly as a researcher at U.S. News and World Report before becoming a press aide for a succession of Democrats in Congress. Note: This 9/11 whistleblower had an advanced degree from the London School of Economics, described in Wikipedia as "among the world's most selective universities." And though she had worked for top newspapers and was trusted by members of Congress, she was later painted as being crazy, possibly since age 7, by government prosecutors and psychologists. On the morning of March 11, 2004, Susan Lindauer woke to find five F.B.I. agents at her front door. She was charged with having acted as an unregistered agent of Saddam Hussein's Iraqi government. Having grown up in a household in which public policy was frequently the stuff of dinner-table conversation . Lindauer wanted to help change the world. The way she chose to do so, however, was not by signing petitions or marching in demonstrations, but by engaging in the kinds of clandestine encounters that you read about in spy novels -- meeting foreign diplomats, passing along secret messages and engaging in other activities that would eventually lead to her arrest. While Lindauer was not accused of espionage, as initial reports of her arrest suggested, the government did charge her with a serious crime, even if the charge itself may seem like a technicality. By failing to register herself formally as a lobbyist and by supposedly following instructions from Iraqi diplomats and intelligence agents at the United Nations, the government charged, Lindauer had been acting as ''an unregistered agent of a foreign government." Lindauer acknowledges that the meetings detailed in the federal indictment took place, but denies acting as an agent of Iraq or any other country. Her aim, as she explained it, was to function as . an unofficial go-between who could help break the cycle of isolation, paranoia and suffering created by sanctions. "U.S. intelligence knew what I was doing,'' she said. ''Everything that I did,'' she said, ''I was giving to the chief of staff of the White House.'' Dr. Richard Fuisz [is] a globe-trotting Virginia-based businessman whom Lindauer described . as ''my contact in the C.I.A..'' Citing unnamed sources, The Sunday Herald , a Scottish newspaper, reported in 2000 that Fuisz had been the C.I.A.'s most important agent in Damascus during the 80's. ''This is not an issue I can confirm or deny,'' Fuisz told The Herald . ''I am not allowed to speak about these issues. In fact, I can't even explain why I can't speak about these issues.'' Fuisz confirmed that he saw Lindauer about once a week on average between 1994 and 2001. John Lindauer [is Lindauer's] younger brother. One conversation John had with his sister in the summer of 2001 stuck in his mind. ''She goes, 'Listen, the gulf war isn't over. There are plans in effect right now. They will be raining down on us from the skies.''' His sister told him that Lower Manhattan would be destroyed. ''And I was like, yeah, whatever,'' he continued. When he woke up six weeks later to the news that two planes had crashed into the twin towers . he had a dislocating sense of having his reality replaced by Susan's strange world. Parke Godfrey, a close friend of Lindauer's for the last 15 years, is a professor of computer science at York University in Ontario. He says that Lindauer warned him not to take a job at N.Y.U. the summer before the Sept. 11 attacks. Note: Though the entire, long article at the link above tries to paint Lindauer as being somewhat delusional, it does reveal an abundance of important information supporting many of her claims, including government foreknowledge of 9/11.

She was also the backdoor negotiator with the Iraqi regime over "WMDs," and had managed to obtain Iraq agreement with all U.S. demands, only to have that agreement ignored and suppressed by an administration intent on war. Angered by the administration's and Republican leadership's subsequent attempts to blame 9/11 and the eventual Iraq quagmire on the failure of the intelligence community to provide adequate intelligence, she went to Congress to lay out what she knew, and was promptly arrested, accused of being an Iraqi spy, and eventually sent to prison for "psychiatric evaluation" and an attempt at stereotypically Stalinist forced drugging.

The book deals with the terrible consequences of the so-called “War on Terror” which followed the 9/11 attacks. Is the threat of terrorism real? Or is it like the barking of a dog driving a herd? The threat of catastrophic climate change is very real indeed. The threat to future global food security is real too. Already 11 million children die every year from malnutrition and poverty-related causes. The threat to human civilization and the biosphere posed by a possible Third World War is real. The threat of exhaustion of non-renewable resources and economic collapse is real. The dangers associated with our unstable fractional reserve banking system are also real. Beside these all too real threats to our future, the threat of terrorism is vanishingly small. Millions starve. Millions die yearly from preventable diseases. Millions die as a consequence of wars. Compared with these numbers, the total count of terrorist victims is vanishingly small. It is even invisible compared with the number of people killed yearly in automobile accidents. The official story of 9/11 is untrue There is strong evidence, available to everyone who is willing to look at it on the Internet, which shows that the official version of 9/11 is untrue, and that the US government made the disaster worse than it otherwise would have been in order to justify not only an unending “War on Terror”, but also the abridgement of civil liberties within the United States.

Skeptics also wonder why the surviving victims of the 911 attacks and their families seem to meekly accept the official version instead of challenging it, on the basis of the obvious inconsistencies and impossibilities that detractors have pointed out almost since that tragic day. Let us clarify that both those objections are invalid because they are wrong. Several people working inside the US Government at various levels –including, exceptionally military officers - have spoken out against their superiors on the truth behind those terrible events, at great personal cost and risk and numerous relatives of 911 victims have joined legal and public awareness campaigns to expose the truth. Others however accepted substantial financial rewards as a price for their silence and a few have died in suspicious circumstances after being too outspoken and affirmative in their conviction that the WTC had been destroyed by controlled demolition. No single source of information on the conspiracy of 911 seems to possess all the facts, as can be logically expected in view of the systematic compartmentalization of information on the “Need to Know” basis practiced by the government, all the more so in its clandestine agencies.

The book deals with the the current deep split in public opinion in the United States. Demo- cratic institutions are in danger from racism and neo-fascism. Progressives are fighting to save the values and institutions on which their country was founded. They are fighting to save America’s soul. Racism, discrimination and xenophobia Progressives today would like to eliminate all forms of discrimination, whether based on race, religion, ethnicity, or gender. They are opposed by white na- tionalist groups, especially in rural areas and among white industrial workers and evangelicals, who fear that their own groups will soon be outnumbered by those who differ from them in ethnicity, race or religion. Donald Trump has appealed to these fears using rhetoric similar to that of Hitler. According to the testimony of his first wife, he kept a book Hitler’s speeches beside his bedside and studied it diligently. Hitler’s rise to power in Germany probably would not have occurred had it not been for the terrible economic stress pro- duced by the terms of the Versailles Treaty. Working-class white Americans are similarly stressed, and they have chosen a similar leader. Excessive economic inequality The United States today is characterized by excessive economic inequality. As Senator Bernie Sanders said, “There is no justice, and I want you to hear this clearly, when the top one-tenth of 1 percent - not 1 percent, the top one-tenth of 1 percent - today in America owns almost as much wealth as the bottom 90 percent.” Such exaggerated inequality is bad in itself, but it also leads to govern- mental corruption.
