FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE September 26, 2017 Media contact: GCC: Cecilia Dall'Oglio, [email protected], +393331271680 JPEuropa: Stefan Lunte, stefan.lunte@comece, +33680179422 European Justice and Peace Commissions Unite in solidarity for Care of Creation The Conference of European Justice and Peace Commissions is promoting care for Creation as part of its international workshop and general assembly meeting. The Conference of European Justice and Peace Commissions is a network of 31 national Justice and Peace Commissions, which are mandated by their bishops' conferences. The gathering, which is themed “On Spiritual Roots and Political Fruits,” is a pilgrimage for justice and peace and care of Creation, 22-25 September. It took place at the Taizé monastic community. Cardinal Peter Turkson, Prefect of the Dicastery for the Promotion of Integral Human Development, attended the first two days of the gathering, and Rev. Claire Sixte-Gateuille, National Secretary for International relations of The United Protestant Church in France and delegate of CEC adressed the audience as well. Cecilia Dall’Oglio, Italian Justice and Peace Commission and GCCM European Manger, introduced the symbolic action for Season of Creation and delegates of National commissions of Justice and Peace, the attending bishops and the brothers of Taizé physically enacted their commitment to care for Creation. All removed their shoes, standing barefoot on Earth to demonstrate radical renewal of a connection with Creation. Participants then placed soil taken from wounded sites in their countries into a container, symbolizing unity in the face of common social and environmental devastation. Each contribution of soil was meaningful. For example, the German Commission brought soil from the UN Climate Secretariat in Bonn as a sign of encouragement to the UN climate negotiators.

  • January 2020
INM FMA / Pro. Cir. 31 January 2020 Viva Gesu`! “As for Mary, she treasured all these things and pondered them in her heart”. - (Lk.2:19) My Dearest Sisters, Wish you a very happy and grace-filled New Year 2020! On the very first day of the year, the Church celebrates the solemnity of Mary Mother of God, a title given to the Virgin Mary during the Council of Ephesus in 431, entrusting the entire year to the motherly care of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Pope Francis says that the love of the mothers is the foundation of humanity and the cure for a world often divided and filled with bitterness. He praises mothers for the “heroism” they show in self-giving, strength in compassion, wisdom in meekness and for the loving accompaniment of their children. A world that looks to the future without a mother’s gaze is shortsighted. It may well increase its profits but it will no longer see others as brothers and sisters. He is indeed amazed by the Mother of God who was deeply united with her son Jesus and journeyed with Him throughout His life on earth and beyond with her admirable motherly qualities. He recommends us to ask Mary for “the grace to be amazed at the God of surprises” as 2020 gets started. May she bless the path of every man and woman in this year that is just beginning. It will be good precisely in the measure in which each person welcomes God’s goodness which Jesus came to bring into the world.

  • Interiority and Spirituality Alberto Marvelli
Framework of salesian holiness: interiority and spirituality Alberto Marvelli Elisabetta Casadei Who is Alberto Marvelli? A young man who lived "a life in motion" and died at the age of 28. A passionate educator; a mechanical engineer of the automotive manufacturer Fiat; a young sportsman who loved cycling and mountain climbing; an "honest citizen", who during World War II was not afraid to risk his life to save many others; a politician by vocation, commissioner for reconstruction, highly regarded even by his political opponents. His "adventure" in a sentence: "Love never rests" If we were to sum up his whole life in one sentence, we could perhaps summarize it with a note found in one of his spiritual notebooks: "Love never rests"1. This is an ''adventure of the Spirit" that Alberto Marvelli lived in his short life. A life in love, lived in continuous desire to transform it into a continuous act of love: "My life shall be an act of love"2, he wrote in his Diary. However, the journey of the Spirit, like any other journey, needs a direction; and Alberto, at the age of twenty, when about to finish University studies and had already been an educator in the Oratory Don Bosco in Rimini for many years, felt called by the Spirit to give a more specific direction to his life and - I would say - an acceleration. He writes in his Diary: “To make a point”. This statement is often used in the Navy (and also in other fields) to orient oneself. But much can be said with good reason for the spiritual life.

The Marian Thoughts of Pope Benedict XVI September 2007 Pope's Address at Prayer Vigil in Loreto – September 1, 2007 Lord Jesus, this evening I would like to speak to you, making my own the inner attitude and trusting abandonment of that young woman who, two-thousand years ago, said her "yes" to the Father who chose her to be your Mother. The Father chose her because she was docile and obedient to his will. Like her, like little Mary, each one of you, dear young friends, should say to God with faith: "Here I am; let it be done to me according to your word." … Look at the young Mary; the Angel proposed something truly inconceivable to her: participation, in the most involving way possible, in the greatest of God's plans, the salvation of humanity. Facing this proposal, Mary, as we heard in the Gospel, was distressed for she realized the smallness of her being before the omnipotence of God; and she asked herself: "How is it possible? Why should it be me?".

  • Strenna 2019
Strenna 2019 «So that my joy may be in you » (Jn 15,11) HOLINESS FOR YOU TOO My Dear Brothers and Sisters, my Dear Salesian Family, Continuing our century-old tradition, at the beginning of this New Year 2019 I address myself to each one of you, in every part of the “Salesian world” that as the Salesian Family we constitute in more than 140 countries. I do so while giving a commentary on a subject very familiar to us, with a title taken directly from the Apostolic Exhortation of Pope Francis on the call to holiness in today’s world: Gaudete et Exsultate1. In choosing this subject and this title I want to translate into our own language and in the light of our charismatic sensitivity the strong appeal to holiness that Pope Francis has addressed to the whole Church.2 Therefore I want to emphasise those points that are typically “our own” in the context of our Salesian spirituality, those shared by all the 31 groups of our Salesian Family as the charismatic inheritance received from the Holy Spirit through/by means of our beloved Father Don Bosco, who will certainly help us to live our lives with the same deep joy that comes from the Lord: «So that my joy may be in you » (Jn 15,11). To whom are these words addressed? I can assure you that they are addressed to everyone. To all of you my dear Salesian confreres SDB. To all of you sisters and brothers of the various different congregations and institutes of consecrated and lay life in our Salesian Family.
