Amen

Genesis 3. 22-31 The same night he got up and took his two wives, his two maids, and his eleven children, and crossed the ford of the Jabbok. He took them and sent them across the stream, and likewise everything that he had. Jacob was left alone; and a man wrestled with him until daybreak. When the man saw that he did not prevail against Jacob, he struck him on the hip socket; and Jacob’s hip was put out of joint as he wrestled with him. Then he said, “Let me go, for the day is breaking.” But Jacob said, “I will not let you go, unless you bless me.” So, he said to him, “What is your name?” And he said, “Jacob.” 2Then the man said, “You shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel, for you have striven with God and with humans, and have prevailed.” Then Jacob asked him, “Please tell me your name.” But he said, “Why is it that you ask my name?” And there he blessed him. So, Jacob called the place Peniel, saying, “For I have seen God face to face, and yet my life is preserved.” The sun rose upon him as he passed Penuel, limping because of his hip.

Psalm 121 Lift up my eyes to the hills— from where will my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. He will not let your foot be moved; he who keeps you will not slumber. He who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord is your keeper; the Lord is your shade at your right hand. The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all evil; he will keep your life. The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from this time on and forevermore.

Luke 18: 1-8 Then Jesus told them a parable about their need to pray always and not to lose heart. He said, “In a certain city there was a judge who neither feared God nor had respect for people. In that city there was a widow who kept coming to him and saying, ‘Grant me justice against my opponent.’ For a while he refused; but later he said to himself, ‘Though I have no fear of God and no respect for anyone, 5 yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will grant her justice, so that she may not wear me out by continually coming.’” And the Lord said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says. And will not God grant justice to his chosen ones who cry to him day and night? Will he delay long in helping them? I tell you, he will quickly grant justice to them. And yet, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?”

FOOD BANK As you may have heard, Blandford Food bank is working alongside Faithworks Wessex, Hall & Woodhouse, County Council, Skills & Learning and Noc's Box on a new initiative called Making Blandford Special. We want to discover more about what makes our community a great place to live so that we can celebrate the good ideas and inspire others around Blandford to do the same. As you have been nominated you are cordially invited to join us for the Blandford Conversation on Saturday 19th October, 10.00 am to 1.00 pm in The Sealy Suite, Crown Hotel, Blandford, DT11 7AJ, when we hope to show on a map of Blandford the location of all our nominated groups. We then would like a conversation to celebrate all that is currently happening in Blandford and to see if we can expand any of our groups into neighbourhoods that are not so well catered for. Light refreshments will be served. Please join us and let us hear your voice! (A nomination form is at the back of the church for your reference)

Please remember The Food Bank – A tin of something from your store cupboard into the basket at the back of the church would be gratefully received. There are lists of what is needed at the back of the church.

I am very happy to help with any photocopying for fundraising events for the churches, Posters, flyers etc. Please email me your copy and let me know how many you want. Fran
