EMBARKATION TIME Embarkation time is at 5pm.

YACHT BRIEFING All briefings are conducted on the chartered yacht and will take 40-90 minutes, depending on yacht size and crew experience.

The team will give a detailed walk-through of your yacht’s technical equipment, information about safe and accurate navigation, including the yacht’s navigational instruments, as well as mooring, anchorage and itinerary help. The safety briefing introduces the safety equipment and your yacht’s general inventory.

STOP OVERS For all our charters starting and/or ending in Rhodes, the first and last night at the marina is free of charge.

DISEMBARKATION TIME Disembarkation is at 9am.

To assist in making checkout as smooth as possible, we ask that you arrive back at the base at least two hours before sunset, the evening before disembarkation.

The team will inspect your yacht’s equipment and a general visual check of its interior and exterior. A diver will check its hull, keel, rudder(s) propeller(s) and /or bow thruster. General inspection will take up to 90 minutes. Diesel will be refilled as well.

BAGGAGE Please only take soft bags and not suitcases, as they would be too cumbersome onboard.

HOW TO GET THERE?

ACCESS BY PLANE Rhodes International Airport Diagoras (RHO): The airport is 22.5km from the base, which is a 30-minute journey by car/shuttle. There are regular flights from Athens and other European cities with most known airlines, including Aegean Airlines, British Airways, Brussels Airlines, EasyJet, Jet2, Norwegian and Ryanair. Please check the schedule on the airport website.

TRANSFERS FROM THE AIRPORT TO OUR BASE If you need an organized transfer from the airport, please contact our base manager. Major car rental companies operate from the airport, please refer to airport website for info, working hours and contacts. Taxis are regularly available in front of the airport buildings.

ACCESS BY ROAD Head southeast toward Kolokotroni St. Follow Epar. Od. Pastidas, Epar. Od. Kalithies- Pastidas and Lindou/EO95 to Delmouzou in Sgourou. Continue to Leof. Kallitheas. Follow Leof. Kallitheas to Afstralias in Rodos. The base is on your right.

ACCESS BY BUS

There is bus service every 25 minutes from 7.30am and the last bus is at 11pm. A bus service is provided between the airport and the city of Rhodes. The bus stop is located between the new and the old terminal. Tickets can be purchased by the bus driver.

The island of Rhodes is the largest and most historically significant in the chain. Our base is located in Rhodes Marina, a short distance from Rhodes’ , the oldest inhabited medieval town in . You can explore its walls, windmills, Palace of the Grand Master of the Knights, St Anthony’s Gate, Gate of Amboise, Hippocrates Square, clock tower, archaeological museum and impressive towers that fringe the waterfront.

To sail in Rhodes, you will need a sailing license that is recognized by the local port authorities, or you can hire a skipper.

TOP THINGS TO DO IN RHODES:

1. Visit the Medieval City of Rhodes: There are so many things to do in Rhodes, but you won’t have fully experienced Rhodes until you’ve explored within the walled city of the old town, otherwise known as Medieval City. Stroll the quaint streets and indulge in some shopping and dining in this UNESCO World Heritage city. 2. See the Archaeological Museum of Rhodes: Housed in a monument building that was originally constructed as a Hospital of the Knights of St. John, t. This fascinating museum is packed with sculptures and relics, giving a glimpse of ancient Rhodes ranging from over 7000 years ago. Make sure you pay a visit during your yacht charter in Rhodes. 3. Tour the Valley of the Butterflies: , just up from the coast for our base, is better known as the Valley of the Butterflies. Visit between June and August when millions of the multicolored insects converge, drawn by the scent of storax trees resin found here. 4. Visit the Palace of the Grand Master: While in the old town of Rhodes, take some time to stroll through the palace and surrounding moat with amazing views. The halls have exquisite mosaic floors, paintings artifacts and more. 5. Climb to the of : High atop the rocky cliffs above Lindos, sits the ancient remains of the temple to Lindia. The towering stark white columns are a dazzling contrast against the stunning long-range sea views, and are certainly worth a visit if you’re sailing Rhodes.

INTERNET There is internet access via cafes and Wi-Fi hotspots, which you can use whilst on your vacation sailing Rhodes. Cell phones with sim cards from European Union countries (except Switzerland) operate without roaming fees. For other countries, please contact your provider. You can buy a local Sim card at telecommunication shops.

ENVIRONMENT • Respect your surroundings and leave only footprints in the sand • Only use the engine or genset when needed (fill up your tanks for the water maker at the docks when you can) • Recycle your garbage in the correct containers at the marina • Respect regulations around marine reserves and private islands where disembarking is not permitted

REGULATIONS There are no restrictions for sailing Rhodes, although this can change depending on the weather, when you sail and the type of fishing you want to do. Please check with port authorities.

SAILING CONDITIONS

SAILING AREA From Rhodes, Sail to Simi Town and take in its pastel-colored classical architecture along the water. The sands at Nos are close to the main port, while Panormitis beach is less touristy. To shelter from winds, head to Emporio cove.

During your yacht charter in Rhodes, take some time to relax at Island’s Livadia port and enjoy an ice-cold coffee in the bars or dine at the tavernas. Visit Kryas Springs or head inland to look around an abandoned village. Enjoy the secluded beach at Agios Antonios Marina, but watch the rocks, or swim in the clear water at Eristos.

Enjoy a cool drink at Nimporio’s waterfront on Halki (Chalki Island), where you’ll be met with a warm welcome. Find a gently shelving beach with free sunbeds at Kania Beach, shallow waters at Pondamos and a rocky coastline for snorkeling at Ftenagia. Try Yiali beach – accessible only by boat – for a bit of isolation.

WEATHER The best time to visit Rhodes is in the summer when the weather is hot, dry and sunny. Temperatures hit 84ºF in August, although spring temperatures reach 71ºF in May and 78ºF in September.

WIND SYSTEMS The sailing conditions for Rhodes include a prevailing NW wind averaging force 4-6. Beware of the rocks on the north side of the port entrance. When sailing Rhodes, keep your distance from the beach before the entrance of the port. When returning to base, use the mooring lines or anchor.
