Tour Descriptions
Historical City Tour 4 hours Includes visit to the Old Town (King Sigismund’s column, St. John Cathedral, the Old Town Market Square and the Barbican), Royal Route (noble residences and famous staues), Historical sights (the Ghetto Memorial, the Monument of Warsaw uprising, the Tomb of the Un- known Soldier, the Grand Theatre, Chopin’s Monument, the Belvedere Palace), and also an interior visit of the Wilanow Palace, the Baroque residence of King Jan III. Sobieski.
Jewish Heritage Tour 4 hours You will see the most important sights related to the history of the Jewish community. From the 11th century until the beginning of World War 2, Poland was known as the cultural and spiritual center of European Jews. Highlights of Jewish Warsaw include the remnants of the Ghetto wall, Nozyk Synagogue, and former Jewish Street. Go to the famous Okopowa Street Jewish Cemetery, one of the largest Kirkuts (Jewish cemeteries) in Europe. See monuments that commemorate the martyrdom of Jews during World War 2. And go to the Umschlagplatz, where some 300,000 of the city’s Jews were sent to the concen- tration camps. Learn about the Ghetto Uprising of 1943, when a few hundred brave Jews stood up to the heavy artillery and dive bombers of the Nazis. The Monument to the Heroes of the Ghetto, built by sculptor Nathan Rappaport in 1948, pays fitting tribute to these resistance fighters and the spirit of the Jews who made one last desperate fight against the horror of the Holocaust.
