Uni scored first, but in a high scoring first half Burnside fought back and went into the break 3-2 up. Uni equalised but conceded directly after, Burnside adding another to progress to take on the Magpie ladies in the decider next Saturday 4pm with a 5-3 win (Tess Reynolds proving again how dangerous she is in front of goals with another 2 goal haul). The men’s fixture saw Forestville, having played their first finals fixture for many seasons in the top flight the week prior, hoping to continue their fairy-tale run against a Port side smarting from opportunities not taken the previous week in their loss to the Zulu’s. Port grabbed control from early on with a field goal conversion to Scott Germein and despite burning numerous opportunities to seal the game, went into the main break 3-0 up, with the third goal in particular being one for the highlight reel resulting from a string of incisive passes, summing up Port’s excellent team display. Despite the second half being scoreless it wasn’t lacking for creative play, with the Forestville custodian making many fine saves, setting up a re-match of last year’s grand finalists in the big one next Saturday night 6pm. The Magpies are represented in each of the matches this coming Saturday, with all fixtures being re- matches of the major semi final clashes after Seymour OC girls defeated Adelaide in the metro 1 prelim to advance to the grand final against the Port girls 12 noon, whilst the 2pm metro 1 men’s decider sees Grange Royals play the boys from Ethelton after their gritty 1-1 draw with the Zulu’s saw them go through after finishing higher in the minor round. All finals are at the State Hockey Stadium, Gepps Cross. We have signed on with Tiger turf who will be installing their next generation WETT pro. A little information about Tiger Turf... Over the last 30 years TigerTurf has gained a reputation as a leading supplier of hockey surfaces. Since the creation five years ago of WETT (Water Efficient TigerTurf) – the world’s first water efficient hockey system – TigerTurf has gone from strength to strength supplying Australasia’s leading clubs, including New Zealand’s North Harbour Hockey, Auckland Hockey and Wellington Hockey and Australian clubs Maryborough Hockey, Queensland and Parks Hockey NSW as well as leading schools such as Aquinas College, Perth and Kristin School, Auckland. The next generation, the TigerTurf WETT Pro system, has been tested to current FIH (International Hockey Federation) standards, passing with flying colours and accredited to FIH Global status. WETT Pro shows little sign of deformation after extensive wear tests and the “spring” in the fibre means it is safe to fall on, yet not too soft that players will tire out. Providing longer life expectancy than any other product on the market TigerTurf WETT Pro is exclusively available to TigerTurf International. PADHC is proudly supported by: st Magpie Update: September 21 2012 TigerTurf’s new WETT Pro system provides: • The same industry leading performance as WETT but now with an additional 20% longer life span. • Great playability where the surface retains its evenness and “natural” ball roll even after extensive use ensuring players of all abilities can perform their skills on a safe, true and comfortable surface. • Excellent tuft bind which means the yarn is well rooted into the turf system so the synthetic turf blades are not lost. This ensures the quality and consistency of the surface over the long term. • Aesthetically it looks much better than other turf tape yarns and is available in two tone Green, Blue and Brick. • The unique texturised yarn ensures there isn’t ball roll deviation from any direction whilst maintaining a fast pace in line with player’s demands. • Another benefit to the players is that the unique yarn has been designed so that it doesn’t shine when wet or under floodlights, whilst retaining moisture to the surface benefiting both the game and environment. So what does this mean for you? The more a surface can be used, the more income can be generated over a longer period of time resulting in much better value for money. TigerTurf’s R&D team has worked tirelessly on developing an advanced Hockey system that meets the same performance standard as the ground-breaking WETT but that lasts 20% longer. Talk to TigerTurf today about how this will benefit your club, the players and the community. Want to purchase a piece of PADHC history? The old pitch will be up for sale $10 per square meter.
