The Priory It is thought The Priory, which was originally formed part of the Pierrepont Estate, dates back to the 1600’s and incorporates later Regency and Gothic additions as well a 1920’s wing. The property is built from locally sourced ironstone and brick with an eye catching facade with twin pairs of towering chimneys. The property exhibits some delightful features showing an Arts & Crafts influence including exposed brick walling, open fireplaces, oak flooring and a wealth of charming windows, some with working shutters. The current owners completed substantial refurbishments to the property when they moved in some 25 years ago and the property now offers extensive and flexible accommodation which is beautifully appointed on the edge of this popular village.

The ground floor of the accommodation comprises two principal reception rooms which have substantial fireplaces with the addition of a sitting room and two separate halls. The kitchen/breakfast room is flooded with natural light and is tiled with hand- painted Delft tiles and includes a two-oven Aga. The adjoining breakfast room has double doors which open out into the gardens and provide access to the scullery with further Delft tiling.

On the first floor the master bedroom leads to its own separate en suite bathroom and dressing room. There is also a study and laundry room. There are two further bedrooms plus a guest bedroom which has an en suite bathroom. Stairs lead up to an attic room with a built in double bed, storage and a chest of drawers.

Gardens and Grounds The Priory is approached into an initial shared driveway which then leads off through double 5-bar gates into its own private driveway. This provides parking for a number of cars. Pathways meander from the driveway through the gardens to the front door. The gardens are immaculately maintained and have been styled to reflect the influences of Lutyens and Jekyll surrounding a splendid yew tree which sits centrally on the main lawn. This lawn is bordered by mature and well-stocked beds together with two beautiful oak trees. The boundary to the front of the property is flanked by beautifully clipped hedging.

Additional Land A 4 acre field on the opposite side of Priory Lane to The Priory is available by separate negotiation. Services We are advised by our clients that the property has mains water and electricity, gas fired central heating and mains drainage.

Fixtures and Fittings Only those mentioned in these sales particulars are included in the sale. All other items, such as fitted carpets, curtains, light fittings, garden ornaments, etc. are specifically excluded but may be made available by separate negotiation.
