Gary Born Receives Haverford College Alumni Distinguished Achievement Award for Outstanding Achievement 2013-06-04 Partner Gary Born, chair of the International Arbitration Group at Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr LLP, is the recipient of the 2013 Haverford College Alumni Distinguished Achievement Award in a Chosen Field or Endeavor. The award recognizes alumni who have achieved personal success, made outstanding contributions to their fields, achieved recognition by their colleagues and brought honor to themselves and to Haverford through their distinguished achievements. Born, a '78 alumnus of Haverford, is one of the world’s leading authorities in the fields of international arbitration and litigation. He has been involved as counsel in more than 550 arbitrations, under all leading arbitral regimes, including several of the largest arbitrations in both ICC and ad hoc history. Born is uniformly ranked by Euromoney, Chambers, Legal 500 and Global Counsel as one of the leading practitioners in the field. He is one of only three lawyers in the world, and the only lawyer in London, to receive global "starred" status in Chambers Global rankings for international arbitration. A prolific author, Born has published leading works on international arbitration, international litigation and other forms of dispute resolution. He is the author of International Commercial Arbitration (Kluwer 2009), the preeminent treatise in the field and recipient of the American Society of International Law’s Certificate of Merit in 2010.
