A person can be infected with measles just by being in the same room as an infected person, even up to two hours after the infected person has left. Measles is very contagious, potentially serious and vaccine preventable. For the latest information on this issue, please follow this link.

WCMS Statement on Medicaid Work Requirements Ruling Following WCMS' opposition to the then-proposed Medicaid work requirements in Michigan, 2019 WCMS President Evelyn Eccles released the following statement in response to the recent Federal District Court for the District of Columbia’s rejection of Kentucky and Arkansas Medicaid work requirements by Judge James Boasberg: “On behalf of the WCMS Executive Council and the vulnerable populations our physicians treat in Washtenaw County and across the state, I applaud the ruling and look forward to a similar

decision for Michigan.” To view the full statement, please click here.

Asthma Spacer Pilot Program Coming to Washtenaw County A spacer/valved-holding chamber (VHC) standing order will be coming to Washtenaw County this spring. In a handful of pilot pharmacies, pharmacists will dispense a spacer/VHC using a standing order if a provider neglects to prescribe one. Outcomes from this pilot will inform similar efforts in other communities and statewide.

This project is the result of a partnership between the Michigan Pharmacists Association and the Michigan Dept. of Health & Human Services Asthma Program.

Health Can't Wait Site Launched to Address Prior Authorization MSMS recently launched the "Health Can't Wait" website, a coalition of patients, health care providers, and associations dedicated to putting Michigan patients first and ending delays to health care access.

The site asks that physicians submit narratives that detail when patient care or treatment was delayed due to prior authorization red tape or step therapy. These stories will be used to educate

Michigan lawmakers about the importance of prior authorization reform.
