Introduction 2 It gives me great pleasure to see so many of you this evening! Thank you for taking time off to attend the Club-100 @ North West 1 Dinner. Club-100 @ North West 3 To encourage philanthropy spirit among Singaporeans and corporate partners in our North West District, I mooted the idea of Club-100 @ North West in 2008 to reach out to more-able individuals / corporations to give back to the community. Usage of funds through North West Food Aid Fund 4 The Club-100 network comprises corporate and individual members who pledge a donation of at least $100 per month towards North West Food Aid Fund (FAF). The North West CDC needs $550,000 yearly to assist an average of 800 needy households with food rations and food vouchers to defray their monthly household expenses. There are three main groups of beneficiaries, namely, Needy elderly, Low-income families and Families needing temporary help. 2 Recruitment of new members 5 This year, I have appointed 12 District Councillors and Resource Persons to take on the role of expanding the Club-100@ North West network. They are Mr Chandra Mohan (Chairman), Mr Allen Ang (Vice-Chairman), Miss Audrey Cheong, Mdm Heng Boey Hong, Mrs Manokara, Mr Ng Chow Yong, Mr Ong Wee Heng, Mr Pek Yew Chai, Dr Ramaswamy Akhileswaran, Mdm Rashidah, Mdm Corina Song and Mdm Jan Tan. 6 They have used their extensive corporate network to bring in new Club-100 members and donations. With that, I’m pleased to announce that the organising committee has recruited 100 new donors in a short span of three months. The Club-100 @ North West membership has thus increased to close to 400 members today. 7 On top of that, the organising committee has garnered contribution from six corporate partners and individuals donating $50,000, $30,000 and $20,000, making up close to $200,000. Our six key donors for Club-100 @ North West are: 3 (i) Sunray Woodcraft Construction Pte Ltd (ii) Management Development Institute of Singapore (iii) Swee Hong Ltd (iv) Mr Philip Leong Poh Chuen (v) Mr Robert Angelo Hendro Santoso Huray (vi) Modern Montessori International Pte Ltd I would like to thank our organising committee for their achievements in expanding the Club-100 @ North West membership this year. 8 In the first six months of 2012, Club-100 @ North West has raised half a million dollars towards the North West Food Aid Fund. In particular, we managed to raise $350,000 within a short span of three months.
