SAB issues annual report ‘Seized cars subjected to armed robberies, thefts’ KUWAIT CITY, July 14: The State Audit Bureau (SAB) has issued its annual report about the Kuwait Municipal- ity for fi scal 2020-2021, which shows armed robberies, thefts, and damage to vehicles which were impounded by the Kuwait Municipality, in addition to other observa- tions, reports Al-Rai daily. The report, a copy of which has been obtained by the daily, shows the Municipality’s garages in Al-Naeem and Mina Abdullah where impounded cars are stored are faulty. The report says, these places lack tight control over the impounded vehicles, especially since these are surround- ed by a mesh fences and these fences have man-made openings and the openings in the walls are either blocked by sand or some vehicles. There is also lack of protection for employees and se- curity personnel because more often than not these places were subjected to armed robberies and thefts; the number of surveillance cameras at these locations are ordinary and do not cover all areas. The areas also lack proper lighting, except for lights at the main gate and to make matters worse there is con- tinuous power outage at the sites, and electricity at the Al Naeem site is supplied by power generator. It has also been reported some of the impounded ve- hicles are parked outside the wall of the site at Naeem; some vehicles are half buried in sand and it is crystal clear that many of these impounded cars were subjected to theft. At forefront of relief operations IITIIM alumni association helps India fight COVID-19 pandemic KUWAIT CITY, July 14: IITIIM alumni association Kuwait is again at the forefront of relief operations. The associa- tion through the Dubai-based fund ‘IN COVID SUPPORT FZE LLC’ also popularly known as Cryptorelief has donated more than $2 million to help India fi ght the ongoing Corona pandemic. The money was donated to buy 8,000 oxygen cylinders to be fi lled with medical oxygen and sent to India through the Indian Embassy in Kuwait. The entire operation was conceived and steered by the IITIIM alumni association in Kuwait. The Airtec Group was given the order to fulfi ll this cyl- inder requirement. Airtec provided free oxygen fi lling sup- port for all the cylinders. Peeyush Jain, the chief operating offi cer of Airtec group said Airtec has fi lled and sent more than 12,000 medical oxygen cylinders and 250 MT of liquid oxygen to India under the project to support India during the second wave. This oxygen supply was then transported under opera- tion Samudra Setu II and carried on the Indian Navy ship INS Tarkash to fulfi ll dire need of COVID essential supplies across India. Vivek of Cryptorelief fund, said “These cylinders were donated to tackle dire oxygen requirements for Wave-02 of Covid in India.” Peeyush Jain, who is also the president of IITIIM alumni association in Kuwait, said, “We are always ready to stand in support of the country whenever crisis hits & funds like Cryptorelief are a proof of that.” Cryptorelief, was started by Sandeep Nailwal founder of Matic, a billion-dollar fund specifi cally dedicated to needs for Covid Relief in the most innovative ways possible. Immunized but banned Not all the COVID-19 vaccines equal – EU

LONDON, July 14, (AP): After Dr. Ifeanyi Nsofor and his wife received two doses of AstraZeneca’s coronavirus vac- cine in Nigeria, they assumed they would be free to travel this summer to a European destination of their choice. They were wrong. The couple — and millions of other people vaccinated through a UN-backed effort — could find themselves barred from entering many European and other countries because those nations don’t recognize the Indian-made version of the vaccine for travel. Although AstraZeneca vaccine produced in Europe has been authorized by the continent’s drug regulatory agency, the same shot manufactured in India hasn’t been given the green light. EU regulators said AstraZeneca hasn’t completed the neces- sary paperwork on the Indian factory, including details on its production practices and quality control standards. But some experts describe the EU move as discriminatory and unscien- tific, pointing out that the World Health Organization has inspected and ap- proved the factory. ‘Treasure of Love’ Mayer visits soft rock with squishy results

By Mark Kennedy ob Rock,” John Mayer (Columbia Records) ‘S You can thank the pandemic for John Mayer’s eighth studio album. He has said he wrote the songs to wrap listeners in the sonic comforter of soft rock. If you don’t like soft rock, you can blame the pandemic for one more thing. Mayer kicks off the 10-track “Sob Rock” with a gem: “Last Train Home,” a throwback guitar-and- synth rocker with Maren Morris on background vocals that sounds like it could have been on Eric Clapton’s 1986 album “August.” (Extra credit for the great line “I’m not a fallen angel/I just fell behind.”) Other bright spots include “New Light,” which fi nds Mayer suffering unrequited love, or, as he says “pushing 40 in the friend zone.” It has a funky vibe and a Santana-ish solo. And his “Wild Blue” has a cool Dire Straits feel. If you’re getting a mel- ancholy and retro feel here, you’re not wrong.
