2018 Dakar // SS2: Orlando Terranova Comes Fifth
2018 Dakar // SS2: Orlando Terranova comes fifth Menzies/Mortensen forced into early retirement by an accident The dune programme is continued The second stage of the 2018 Dakar Rally, around the Peruvian city of Pisco, also proved to be a true challenge. In the 267-kilometre special stage across the dunes, Orlando Terranova and Bernardo ‘Ronnie’ Graue (both ARG) finished fifth, with their MINI John Cooper Works Rally while Mikko Hirvonen (FIN) and Andreas Schulz (GER) in a MINI John Cooper Works Buggy secured seventh place in today’s special stage. The two MINI JCW Rally crews Joan ‘Nani’ Roma / Alex Haro (both ESP) and Jakub ‘Kuba’ Przygonski (POL) / Tom Colsoul (BEL) finished 14th and 16th. “We made a good start into this tough second stage,” revealed Terranova. “Unfortunately I made a mistake with just 20 more kilometres to go and we lost some seven or eight minutes. A mistake I’m really annoyed about but things like this just happen. The MINI runs really well and there still are several days to go.” The Argentinean now holds sixth position in the overall standings. Just like yesterday, Hirvonen was happy with his achievements. “It was a tough and exhausting start into the Dakar. I don’t take any unnecessary risks. After all, the buggy is a new vehicle and I am not too experienced in this kind of dunes.” The Finn missed a waypoint in the early stages and had to turn back – what cost him several minutes. He now holds seventh place in the overall standings. Meanwhile, Roma had to cope with a dose of bad luck. -

HERO MOTOSPORTS TEAM RALLY KEEPS IT STEADY in STAGE 3 of the DAKAR RALLY Wadi Ad-Dawasir, Saudi Arabia, January 05, 2021
HERO MOTOSPORTS TEAM RALLY KEEPS IT STEADY IN STAGE 3 OF THE DAKAR RALLY Wadi Ad-Dawasir, Saudi Arabia, January 05, 2021 Continuing their sound run in the 2021 Dakar Rally, the rider trio from Hero MotoSports Team Rally turned in another good performance in the third stage of the rally today. Joaquim Rodrigues finished the stage in 20th place, Sebastian Buhler came in 21st and Santosh closed the stage in 36th place. Joaquim Rodrigues led the team standings today as well, continuing to grow in confidence. In a predominantly sandy stage, he retained his Top 20 position in the overall rankings at the end of Stage 3. Sebastian Buhler also kept it steady throughout the stage to retain his 24th position in the overall rankings while CS Santosh tackled another long stage really well to gain a couple of positions in the overall rankings. He now stands at the 34th position. It is still early days in the Dakar 2021 but the growing confidence of JRod, consistency of Buhler and determination of Santosh coupled with the flawless performance of the new Hero 450 Rally bike bodes well for the team’s prospects in the upcoming stages. Up next, the rally will move out of the Wadi Ad-Dawasir to the capital city of Riyadh for the longest stage of the rally covering 813 kms, including the transport section. The timed special will be relatively shorter at 337 kms. Joaquim Rodrigues (Competitor No. 27) said, “Today was a lonely stage for me as I was riding alone for most part of it. -
Hero Motosports Puts up Another Strong Show in the 2021 Dakar Rally
Neom, Saudi Arabia, January 12, 2021 HERO MOTOSPORTS PUTS UP ANOTHER STRONG SHOW IN THE 2021 DAKAR RALLY JOAQUIM AT 12TH AND BUHLER AT 16TH POSITION IN THE OVERALL STANDINGS In a stage that was touted to be the toughest of the 2021 Dakar, and was made even tougher by the weight of the recent past, Hero MotoSports Team Rally paid an emotional tribute to their late teammate Paulo Goncalves by delivering a strong performance in Stage 9 today. It was an emotionally charged day for Hero MotoSports Team Rally, as it marked the first death anniversary of Paulo, who passed away after a crash at the Dakar Rally on the same day last year. Motivated by the mission to dedicate this Dakar to Paulo’s memory and driven by his personal resolve to come back and race one more time for Paulo, Joaquim finished the stage in the 13th position. Sebastian Buhler, started the stage well but then lost his way and as a result conceded some time. However, he rose to the task and finished the stage on the 24th position. After nine stages of the Dakar Rally that demanded a completely different level of mental and emotional toughness from Hero MotoSports Team Rally, Joaquim Rodrigues entered the Top 15 in the overall rankings to find himself on 12th place and Sebastian Buhler also moved up a few places to stand at the 16th place in the overall standings. Tomorrow’s stage will take the team one more step closer to another Dakar finish, as they will look to tackle a relatively shorter Stage 10 with 342 kms of special to arrive at the next bivouac at Al-Ula. -

Newsletter Welcome
Lytchett Minster School | Newsletter October 2019 elcome to the October edition of Wthe Newsletter! I would like to thank all the parents who allowed their child to take part in our Open Evening on 19th September. We had over 1000 visitors attending this event and the feedback we received from them was very positive. They were particularly complimentary about our friendly, polite and enthusiastic student tour guides and the students who were helping out in departments, doing demonstrations and showing off our fantastic facilities. This year we were heavily over-subscribed, and following our highly successful Open Evening, we are expecting numbers to be very buoyant again next year. Should you or any of your friends/neighbours with school-aged children wish to come and visit the school during the day, please contact the main office ([email protected]) to arrange a tour. We are confident that you will be see our students purposefully engaged in positive, meaningful learning. These tours will take place every Tuesday morning for the next two months. October is a busy month, with Year 11 students gearing up for their first series of mock exams. With the advent of the two year linear GCSEs it is incumbent on us to prepare students appropriately and to ensure that they develop their long term memory skills for the significant challenge that the new GCSEs now present. We will follow up these mocks with a final ‘rehearsal’ in March 2020. Talking of rehearsals, our performing arts students are also busy preparing for their annual school production, which this year is going to be ‘Into the Woods’.
