FEATURES IN THE BULLETIN Page 12 Our Town Strawberry Bulletin Volume I, Number 6 Serving the 500,000 Veterans Living in Greater Los Angeles November 2011 This regular feature of the Strawberry Bulletin generally records current events that occur in the lives of some of the citizens of the place we claim as Our Town: the West Los Angeles Soldiers Home held in trust as a home for veterans in perpetuity. It is currently managed by the Department of Veterans Affairs, the second largest cabinet department in the United States, smaller only than the Department of Defense. In this special Veterans Day issue, distributed in Washington D.C. as well as the Los Angeles area, we devote this space to an overview of events concerning veterans, housing, and Los Angeles since World War Two.
