The list, comprising 624 species in the families Lasiocampidae, Endromidae, Saturniidae, Sphingidae, Notodontidae, Noctuidae, Pantheidae, Lymantriidae, Nolidae and Arctiidae from the Southern Ural Mountains is presented. The material was collected during 1996–2001 in 10 different expeditions. Dichagyris lux Fibiger & K. Some parasitic Tachainidae were recorded. The distribution, phenology, ecology, abundance and the association of all species to the main phyto-geographical zones of Jordan is discussed. -

The Lepidoptera of Bucharest and Its Surroundings (Romania)

This study presents a synthesis of the current knowledge regarding the Lepidoptera fauna of Bucharest and the surrounding areas within a distance up to 50 kilometers around the Romanian capital. Data about the fauna composition are presented: the results of the research work beginning with the end of the 19th century, as well the results of the research work carried out in the last 15 years. The research initiated and done by the author himself, led to the identification of 180 species which were unknown in the past. Even if the natural habitats from this region have undergone through radical changes in the 20th century, the area still preserves a quite rich and interesting Lepidoptera fauna. The forests provide shelter to rich populations of the hawk moth Dolbina elegans A. Bang-Haas, 1912, one of the rarest Sphingidae in Europe, and some other species with high faunistical and zoogeographical value as: Noctua haywardi (Tams, 1926) (it is new record for the Romanian fauna from this area), Catocala dilecta (Hübner, 1808), Tarachidia candefacta (Hübner, [1831]), Chrysodeixis chalcites (Esper, [1789]), Aedia leucomelas (Linnaeus, 1758), and Hecatera cappa (Hübner, [1809]). We also present and discuss the current status of the protected Lepidoptera species from the surroundings of the Romanian capital for the first time. Résumé. Ce travail représente une synthèse des connaissances actuelles concernant la faune de lépidoptères de Bucarest et de ses zones limitrophes sur un rayon de 50 km autour de la capitale de la Roumanie. -

From that time, only scattered data about its distribution in Croatia were known, without any systematic overview of its total distribution. To obtain a complete picture on the distribution of this species, literature and collection data from the two largest Croatian museums were examined. Also, recently collected data were added to create the first detailed distribution map that included 90 records in total, originating from 51 different localities. The majority of records cover the Mediterranean part of the country; regardless of this, the species has also been described from the continental region. We assume that records from the alpine and continental parts of the country can probably be assigned to the migratory activity of this species. It seems that its distribution is connected with the presence of one of its main larval host plants, of the genus Cephalaria, but further research is needed for confirmation. -

Georgia Greater & Lesser Caucasus A Greentours Trip Report 12th – 25th May 2013 Led by Kurt Vickery, Shamil Shetekauri & Tolkha Shetekauri Departure Most of the group met up at Gatwick and all went smoothly. The first leg took us as far as Istanbul where we were transferred to the charming and relaxed Turcoman hotel. After settling into our rooms we reconvened to the terrace outside the top floor restaurant. We sat overlooking the floodlit splendour of the Blue mosque sipping mint tea. The sky seemed full of the ghostly shapes of Yellow legged gulls eerily and silently floating in and out of the floodlights. Deborah suddenly appeared having travelled independently via Manchester. It didn’t take long before she had us all chuckling which would be a constant for the rest of the trip. In the early hours it was time to make the last flight to Tblisi. We were warmly welcomed at the airport by Shamil, Tolkha and Valikho, and joined by David from Switzerland before being taken to our comfortable hotel in the city centre David Gareja As we set off on our first day trip. We were introduced to our minibus driver Gocha, a lovely burly, cheerful chap - falling over himself to be helpful as we boarded. We made our way through Tblisi, the centre of which is very beautiful with many early Christian churches. The country is busy modernising after the Soviet era and progress so far has been to a very high standard and in very good taste. Making our way through the outskirts, we began our introduction to the countryside, passing several small pools where we had brief glimpses of nervous scuttling terrapins and graceful Black-winged Stilts. -

Sac h k o v & V a d im V Z o lo t u h in received 24.II.2000 Summary: 309 species belonging to 21 families of Bombyces et Sphinges are listed for the modern Volgo-Ural fauna. 12 species ( Sesia philantiformis, Jordanita tenuicornis, Adscita manni, Zygaena trifolii, Z. occitanica, Phragmataecia territa, Amata phegea, Euchampsonia cristata, Phalera bucephaloides, Minna christophi, Hemaris croatica, Hyles nicaea and, prob ably, Holoarctia puengeleri) are deleted from the list. They were either erroneously deter minated or have disappeared ( Hemaris croatica) since Eversmann 's work. 129 species are recorded for the region in addition to Eversmann 's list. This paper is the third in a series of publications1 dealing with the composition of the present- day fauna of the Heterocera moths of various families, the so-called Bombyces et Sphinges, in the Middle Volga and the south-western Cisurals. This region comprises the administrative divisions of the Astrakhan, Volgograd, Saratov, Samara, Uljanovsk, Orenburg, Uralsk and Atyraus (= Gurjev) Districts, together with Tataria and Bashkiria. -

Во второй части работы рассмотрен представлена методика, предложенная Присным 31 вид отряда Lepidoptera из семейств Noctuidae, для типизации реликтовых элементов энтомофауны Geometridae, Sphingidae, Lycaenidae, Pieridae, Cossidae, лесостепной зоны юга Среднерусской возвышенности Zygaenidae, Lecithoceridae, Tineidae, обитающих в и примененная им на большом модельном материале Ростовской области. Они относятся к 8 реликтовым девяти отрядов насекомых, кроме Lepidoptera и псевдореликтовым группировкам: кальцефильные (упоминаются лишь несколько видов отряда) [Присный, и петрофильные псевдореликты, псевдореликты 2003].
