Our new and renewing sponsors pro- vided superior awards including chaps from Woods’ Western World, hat certificates and custom hat box from Shorty’s Caboy Hattery, a custom show pad from Equine Oasis as well as a headstall, reins, skid boots and five gift certificates for $500 each towards a saddle purchase. The Scottsdale Performance Horses/Scotts- dale Western World saddle sponsored by Rolling Hills Casino was won by Kain Emmons showing Lavonne Sturgeon’s horse California Shines. Terry Skevington and Carol Lawrence our New hosts were fabulous in their hospitality and attention to details during the entire weekend. We even presented a NEW Ranch Riding Class won by Teresa Job. You should have seen the expressions on the reining horses’ face as they saw “LOGS!!!” in the center of the arena for the first time after four days of riding reining patterns through the center. It was priceless! We greatly appreciate our New Awards Volunteer Melinda Gaw who coordinated all the wonderful awards throughout the weekend, and Suzy Bond for helping unload the awards. We thank Mark Faley for opening the back gate for the Judges and Kim Vardane- ga-Kent and Terry Holland for offering to volunteer. We hope to take you up on the offers at upcoming shows. We just finished Affililiate #3 at the Brookside Rein for the Roses . Highlights are covered in this newsletter. Everyone appreciated the New Sugar Shack with yummy cappuccinos’, espressos, latté, pastries and more every morning. Our gracious host Bill Madden provided NEW sand footing in the Grand Prix and Show Arenas. We come to Brookside for Footing, Food and Fun, and as always Bill hits the mark. Even though the weather left a bit to desire, the show was well attended and besides the general NRHA classes we had some fun with a Slot Tournament which was sponsored by the Rolling Hills Ca- sino and a “Battle for the Saddle’ class sponsored by the Casino and WCRHA. ...more on page 4 California Shines ridden by Kain Emmons scored a 74.
