Ohio State Buckeyes: Thanks to Primetime Win Over TCU, QB Dwayne Haskins Adds His Name to Heisman Watch Ohio State Buckeyes: Thanks To Primetime Win Over TCU, QB Dwayne Haskins Adds His Name To Heisman Watch Author : Robert D. Cobb No Urban Meyer. Nick Bosa injured. Haters doubting their first two games, and a tough and tricky foe playing 20 mins from their own campus in their home state. None of these factors stopped Ohio State’s super sophomore quarterback Dwayne Haskins vs. No.15 Texas Christian University Saturday night. In what many consider to be No.4-ranked Ohio State’s first true test away from Columbus both Haskins and the high-scoring Buckeyes aced the proverbial exam with flying colors. Scarlet and gray ones of course! In what was a back-and-forth offensive shootout straight out of Madden that had over 1,000 total yards between the two teams (1,037), Ohio State and TCU traded punches worthy of Canelo Alvarez and Triple G were out in Las Vegas. Thankfully for Ohio State, Haskins landed the KO punch vs. the Frogs in the Buckeyes 40-28 win. 1 / 2 In his third start under center, the 6’3, 218-pounder from Highland Park, New Jersey showed why he is the future of Buckeyes football in completing 24-of-38 passes from 344 yards with two passing touchdowns and one on the ground. Per noted Ohio State website, Eleven Warriors, Haskins’ 344-yard outburst was the seventh-best single- game passing performance by a Buckeyes QB since Heisman Trophy winner Troy Smith dropped 342 yards on Notre Dame in 2005, while Art Schlichter’s record mark of 458 vs. Florida State in 1981 is safe, Haskins entered some rarefied air down in Jerryworld. Dare I say, it also put him in the conversation for the Heisman. Yes it does. While notable QB’s such as Washington’s Jake Browning, Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa, Mackenzie Milton from Central Florida and Will Grier from West Virginia will garner some attention, Haskins is the best pro- style NFL prototype of QB to play in Columbus in recent memory. Through three games, Haskins has 890 passing yards, 11 touchdowns and one interception in his first three starts, while completing 78 percent of his passes. No Buckeyes QB—including the forementioned Smith has ever composed those type of numbers. And while many see Ohio State as D.B. University, and has produced ballers who ball on Sundays such as Ezekiel Elliott, Michael Thomas, Marcus Lattimore, Denzel Ward, Gareth Conley and Eli Apple, Ohio State has never had a QB quite like Haskins. Terrelle Pryor, Braxton Miller were at best, athletes trying to play QB, and while J.T. Barrett is a QB who can run—but not pass effectively downfield—and Cardale Jones has size and a big arm, Haskins is the best of both with better accuracy and touch, who has both size and can run when necessary. If his brilliant performance in Arlington was his Heisman coming-our party, then consider Haskins’ Heisman campaign officially underway and off to a good start. 2 / 2 Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org).

James 1:17… Buckeye For Life…✌❤️ pic.twitter.com/symHLRRuCB — CY2 (@youngchase907) January 3, 2020 Young set the Ohio State single-season record with 16.5 sacks as a junior for the Buckeyes, helping the team set the program record with 54 sacks on the year. The 6-foot-5, 265-pound edge rusher recorded 21 tackles for loss (1.75 per game), which tied him for fourth in the country. Young, who finished fourth in Heisman Trophy voting, recorded the second-most forced fumbles in the nation with six. He did all this despite missing two games due to a suspension. With the Cincinnati Bengals expected to select Southern Ohio native and former Buckeye Joe Burrow with the No. 1 pick, the Washington Redskins sit at No. 2 with former Ohio State standouts Dwayne Haskins and Terry McLaurin on the team. Haskins is hopeful that he and Young will be reunited in D.C., which is not far from where they each attended high school in Maryland — Dematha Catholic for Young and the Bullis School for Haskins. Annual Report 2019–2020 Sport and the Body ‘‘ The heart crosses the finish line before the body. A greguería written by Alberto Ríos Arizona’s Poet Laureate, University Professor and Director of the Virginia G. Piper Center for Creative Writing at ASU, ‘‘and a fan of sport ’’ Sport and the Body Message from Kenneth L. Shropshire Where do I begin … When the 2019–2020 academic year started, I don’t think we had any idea how dramatically our lives would change in the months that lay ahead. Our theme year focus of Sport and the Body was leading us down our usual path of uncovering new insights and sharing what we learned with wider audiences, all with the hope of using sport to make the world a better place. As spring rolled around, we were making plans around the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, going about our normal daily routines, as we should. Designs were in motion for the relaunch of our Global Sport Matters multimedia website and we were finalizing details for the third annual Global Sport Summit, to be held in early April. We, like all of you, had to drastically shift our priorities when the COVID-19 pandemic impacted our world. In a strange twist of fate, we found ourselves uniquely positioned to respond to the crisis thanks to a number of factors working in our favor: Arizona State University Annual faculty and staff were already well versed on the Zoom video conferencing platform, which had been report implemented universitywide many months before; we had been preparing to launch several new online multimedia channels, which soon proved to be ideal 2019–2020 for reaching a global audience; and we had a diverse, tech-savvy, responsive staff eager to take on new challenges.

  • Does Addition of Joe Flacco Make the Broncos a Playoff Team? by Ryan O’Halloran & Mark Kiszla Denver Post Feb
Kiszla vs. O’Halloran: Does addition of Joe Flacco make the Broncos a playoff team? By Ryan O’Halloran & Mark Kiszla Denver Post Feb. 19, 2019 Kiz: Life is weird sometimes. Looking for respite from an arctic blast of winter in Wyoming last week, I sipped on a rye in Joe’s, which is proud to be the smallest bar in Rock Springs. And I was rocked by the news the Broncos had agreed to a trade for Baltimore quarterback Joe Flacco. At first, I thought it must be a joke. Still do. Does football operations chief John Elway seriously think Flacco can be the key to a playoff run in 2019? O’Halloran: I was also surprised since it seems like the Broncos were bidding against themselves for Flacco instead of waiting for him to get released. I highly doubt Elway believes Flacco is the key for the Broncos to be 2019 contenders. And Elway shouldn’t believe Flacco represents even a big piece toward returning to respectability. Over the last four years, Flacco is 24-27 as a starter with 64 touchdowns and 46 interceptions. He is a long way removed from his lights-out postseason in 2012 in which he led the Ravens to the Super Bowl. The Broncos need to add many more players to be playoff-good. Kiz: OK, I get it. The Broncos have had better luck during the past 20 years with quarterbacks plucked from the recycle bin than QBs they selected in the NFL Draft. But Flacco isn’t Peyton Manning. Despite his Super Bowl ring, Flacco isn’t even Jake Plummer.
