Mid-North Conference

EBENEZER ODAME KUMI

Ebenezer Odame Kumi is the executive secretary of Mid-North Ghana Conference.

Mid-North Ghana Conference is an administrative unit of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Ghana and is part of Northern Ghana Union Mission, which in turn is part of the West-Central Africa Division. Mid-North Ghana Conference was formerly part of Mid-West Ghana Conference and was organized in 2015. Mid-North Ghana Conference consists of the following territories: -Amantin District Assembly-Atebubu, Kintampo North Municipal Assembly-Kintampo, Assembly-Jema, North District Assembly- Busunyaa, Assembly-, Sene-East and Sene-West District Assemblies at Kwame Danso and Kajeji respectively, Municipal Assembly Techiman, Assembly-Tuobodom, and Wenchi Municipal Assembly. Its headquarters is in Techiman, Ghana.1 Statistics as of June 30, 2018: churches 109; membership 27,377; population 3,053,948.2 Administrative Unit Survey Committee The Mid-West Ghana Conference executive committee had earlier set up a survey committee to make recommendations to the executive committee as to how to create the new field. The survey committee was made up of the following people: Pastor Paul Twumasi Danquah (chair), Pastor James Anane-Domeh (secretary), Pastor Seth Asare Tawiah (treasurer), and Mr. Prosper Aforbu (manager, ACCU). The survey committee made a proposal that the headquarters of the administrative unit should be in Techiman and that the name should be Mid-North Ghana Administrative Unit.3 Mid-North Administrative Unit Directors The executive committee of the Mid-West Ghana Conference accepted the recommendations of the survey committee, and at its meeting held December 23, 2013, in Sunyani, it appointed Pastor John Akumfi Ameyaw as director, Pastor James Anane-Domeh as secretary, and Elder William Ampomah as treasurer of the Mid-North Administrative Unit. The appointments took effect January 1, 2014. The directors of the departments were Pastor Peter Badu (Ministerial secretary), Pastor Joseph Danquah (Personal Ministries and Sabbath School), Pastor Maxwell Obour Boateng Awuah (Youth, Music, Health, and Chaplaincy), Pastor James Amoh (Stewardship and Trust Services), Pastor Emmanuel Opoku-Takyi (Publishing, Adventist Muslim Relations, and Global Mission), and Mrs. Florence Eyiah (Women’s, Childrens, and Young Ladies Ministries). Work officially commenced at the administrative unit on May 6, 2014, in Techiman.4 West-Central Africa Division Inspection Team The West-Central Africa Division (WAD) dispatched an inspection team to the Mid-North Ghana Administrative Unit on August 28, 2014. The inspection team was composed of Pastor Onaolapo Ajibade (executive secretary), Pastor Daniel Opoku-Boateng (Ministerial secretary), and Elder Boadi Mensah (treasurer). Northern Ghana Union Mission (NOGH) officers and officers of Mid-West Ghana Conference were there to receive the division officials. The division team gave a favorable report on the field, and it was subsequently granted conference status by the WAD executive committee at its yearend meeting held in November 2014, for implementation in January 2015.5 Mid-North Ghana Conference Maiden Session The first session of the Mid-North Ghana Conference was held jointly with Green-View Ghana Conference from December 10 to 14, 2014, at Valley View University, Techiman Campus. The session saw the election of Pastor Paul Amo Kyeremeh (president/Ministerial secretary), Pastor Ebenezer Odame Kumi (executive secretary/Communication), Elder William Ampomah (treasurer), John Akumfi Ameyaw (Personal Ministries, Sabbath School, and AMO), Pastor James Anane-Domeh (Stewardship and Trust Services), and Pastor Maxwell Obour Boateng Awuah (Youth, Music, Chaplaincy, and Health), Mrs. Florence Eyiah (Women's, Young Ladies, and Children’s Ministries). The conference was officially inaugurated on December 6, 2015, at Valley View University ceremonial grounds.6 Administration (2015- ): Paul Amo Kyeremeh, president; Ebenezer Odame Kumi, secretary; William Ampomah, treasurer.7
